Being into old mini's I found out about a company in the north east called Z cars Ltd - they convert small cars into fire breathing sheep in wolfs clothing type cars such as the old minis and funnily enough the saxo by ripping out the standard engines, and half the back of the car and plonking either a 2 Litre honda VTEC lump or even better a suzuki hyabusa motorbike engine. Wondered if anyone here has one? is thinking of one? or knows someone who has one?

I dont think anyone has on here from z-cars.

Have you had a look at the videos on youtube?

the conversion is too expensive probablies explains why nobody has one or there re a very few that dont come on here etc

yeah cost looks to be about £6k without the engine?! So, take one saxo VTR say £1500, one build kit from z cars £6000, and a hybusa engine turbo poss £2-2500, thats £10,000 to create a 400 BHP, 0-60 in 3 secs road legal car.

To me that sounds worth it - if you had 10,000 to spend of course

aye it is rather expensive so you wont see one around here im afraid.

looks like fun though :P

was thinking of gettin one of the minis done but decided it wouldnt be a mini with out the a-series plus theres loads u can do with the a series. i wouldnt want to drive a z-car everyday lol

VTRlaa

No defo not an everyday car, would have thought it be very easy to find yourself in someones bumper driving in traffic. You wouldnt have a boot or rear seats either. But still its an idea for the future

yeah would be nice as a track car, im opting for a turbo on mine once its sprayed and finished building my 1380. what done/ got planned for yours??

The mini, just the usual stage 1 intake/exhaust, ported head, SW5 cam, Hi-los and a big twin DTM exhaust nothing major like a turbo! Saxo is staying as it is because I dont think Im allowed to modify it as its on a finance agreement. Might want to put some black oz wheels on it though anyway. that a standard mayfair you got?

ha ha yeah you have to pay that little extra just to go backwards

mikey362vtr

the mayfair, its not standard by along way lol, at the moment its stage 1 kitted, sw5 cam and stage 3 headed. but its all stripped out at the mo ready for its re-spray in tartan red with a black roof. got a set of black revo's to go over the re-furbed mg turbo calipers. and the saxo well i need a new exhaust coz its meltin the back bumper lol and other than that nowt much at the mo

Imagine the burnouts - and the noise!! and the confusion you'd cause to those drug-dealer subaru types

in the latest PFC there is a Cossie engined 106 that is pushing out a monster 400bhp, and that has reverse, plus rear seats and a boot ;)

Cant be bothered to search for it so take a look at the september issue of PFC.:y:

theres an old mini around here with a type-r engine in

it flies,

most of the work was done by himself too, real sense of achievement when you do it yourself

Popular conversion now. MiniWorld do a full subframe conversion kit to bolt straight in!

i found out about a z-cars saxo conversion a while ago. for 15k they will do a type r conversion with a supercharger, putting out about 400 bhp without any internal mods and also able to take a 150 shot of nitrous. new pants every drive, i think.

As far as I know Z-Cars have only built one bike engined Saxo or at least they designed and built part of a kit for JMA, and I think they built at least one bike engined grass track 106.

I'm building a Zcars Vtec engined Saxo at the moment, and as far as I know its the second of three. First was for Swatspeed, then mine and they've just about finished a 106.

That kind of power in a saxo, which we all know has the safety aspects of a prawn cracker.
