Well had my saxo for around 6 months and done a few bits to it. I may aswell get a progress thread going so here are a few older pics when i first got it. The car was totally standard apart from the exhaust. Bonnet raisers and blacked back badges where done by myself.

That is just about everything iirc, i stopped at those mods as i fell out of love with the saxo, however after getting a bit more time with the lil beast i am back in love and have plenty of future mods to look forward to including engine and suspension...pretty happy with the look as it is will more than likely just make faster and lower.

That is all for now but as and when i do more to it i will get pics up etc...

Any comments/suggestions good or bad appreciated :)

They look okay on the mk1's, but not so much on the mk2's. Makes them look like they've been in a smash imo.

The rims are from a furio iirc, i cant remember what they are originally mate (just got them as they got me rolling onto the other mods, just temp).... im thinking of putting the vtr rims back on for a bit till i sort out some new gloss black rims.....

Car will get attention a little more than it has but won't be the number one priorty im afraid...social life comes first till i get more moneys and can do both a little easier...

fancy stripping it out again and going for the track look...

obviously the car will be colour co-ordinated and as a result the badge colour will reflect the cage colour...

would i be out of my mind to match the cage to the current colour badges i have (pink as pics)

or go with a red/blue or something which is a little more suitable...

i would intend to take it on track days etc and it would stand out, but would this be for the right reasons...

As i have kind of fell back in love with the saxo, i have decided to keep it and throw a lot of money on it over a longish period of time, this will be because i want to do things right and it is going to cost a lot of money in which i can't do it all at once... therefore....

Near Future Mods Are To Include:

De-wiper
Re-paint badges in dark blue to match sax-p/ citroen sport badges
Lower it 40-50mm all around


These should be done before the new year and really just involve a little time and not too much money..

I then plan on going all out on the car as i want it to be a track themed car these mods will start in 2009 and come as and when i have money, some may even be done just before from xmas money and presents etc...

This includes the following:

New full exhaust system, decatted with 4-2-1 manifold
2xbucket seats & harnesses
Full roll cage (jojobunbuns dad will do this) and sprayed in blue to match the badges at this point it will also get stripped.
Cam it
Map it
Flocked dash and console
Carbon fibre door cards etc.
Upper & Lower Strut braces sprayed to match badge colour.
Kill switches and engine in the centre console for a bit of track feel.
A good set of track wheels or rallye steelies...


It will obviously cost a lot of money from my point of view but i would love to have a go at turning a standard saxo into a nice little track slag...

This is just a general idea of where i plan to go with it and maybe in the future go even more mental and throttle body or engine transplant the car and maybe have it solely as a track car...

I can't think of much else at the minute but if i do i will add it up, will more than likely be steady progress but i am very adament on getting it all the way there...

I have a few ideas on what i will use in terms of manufacturer's however if anyone can recommend some for certain parts i have mentioned it would be appreciated...

its around 70k luke, it makes sense as i am doing the cambelt etc so may aswell do the cam and then put an adjustable pully on and new cambelt etc...

i literally only have to buy the cam and all the parts on of the fitting will be done by me and my dad at his garage...

can't map it down there though...

got some spax 45mm lowering springs now to bang on the car when my dad get backs from tenerife in a week.....

also got some red paint to do the mirror caps and go over the badges again....

however....

should i put the standard vtr rims back on or leave the black ones on for now until i can afford some better rims???

i could also respray the vtr rims of the black ones to match the red badges and mirror caps... would this be too much???

he is getting rid of his vtr and now needs rid of the vts so i get it freeee :)

i know!!! we was at gym together tonight and he was on about me being able to have it...

it's because it was a project and was going to be a show car and is now collecting dust in a bodyshop... therefore he needs it to go otherwise it is going to cost him...

as my dad has a scrapyard it will go down there and i have 2 spare saxo's (a furio and vts) to play around with and choose bits etc...

im pretty happy with that...

the vts engine was dynod at 147bhp or something around that apparently however there is no proof...

but i would guess it's right as it has been cammed....

the shell is pretty screwed matey... just the engine and wheels which is of use as it was going in the body shop to have all paintwork redone and dents sorted etc...

i will keep my vtr engine as a spare and bang the s lump in for the time being and have some fun in it...

it should be ok on my vtr gearbox right???

the vts engine has been cammed and had the head ported and gas flowed or something like that....

it was a fast machine when it was on the road though so it should be fun!!

it killed standard vts's....

the saxo got lowered yesterday by me and my old man down at his scrapyard...

i was extremely suprised how easy we got the torsion bars off... both took about 2 smashes with a sledgehammer and metal pole....

Piper exhaust straight through to manifold and then get an affordable mani! Wheels will be vts, or maybe some lightweight track wheels! Probably get a few photoshops done of different wheels although im pretty open atm

i don't have an exhaust sorted yet mate no, i want a pugsport or supersprint or something now.. may just temporary fix until i can afford one.

Cage is being designed by jojobunbun's dad and then tig welded and powedrcoated any colour i want. Not getting a full cage just going for halfcage now and then may go more hardcore depending how into the track days i get...

currently have spax 45mm springs which jojo got me for xmas...

therefore will buy some spax shocks and use the springs i have and then get some uprated dampers for the back...

that should be ok shouldn't it? for a noob?

exhaust has been sorted, was a circular hole in the downpipe from the manifold. So just finished welding it up down at the scrapyard...

Also my dad just got a car come in scrap with a decent cd player so nabbed that and put it in mine... due to some pricks knicking my new cd player:(

so that has put a few bits right with the saxo...

main things now are...

roll cage
stripped
bucket seats
manifold, and new straight through exhaust
rear brake pads
de-lock
de-pin
engine transplant to a vts cammed up with headwork

obviously it will be steady progress but i aim to make it just how i want it

any other ideas are welcome

the badges i am unsure.. just painted them black and thought that the front looked bland...

i will keep changing the badge colour... i am never satisfied lol...

I can't say i like it either, it is the main downfall to the car now imo.. will get it sorted in the next few months but there are other priorities atm...

if i had to spray them they would probably go anthracite... but i don't feel the need to do them atm...
