maybe when the mechanic put the new oil in after the service he didnt run the car up n re check the level so might not of put enough in???? or you may have a small oil leak maybe

dont check it if youve only just switched the engine off as the oil will still be up around the engine n not resting at the bottom, wont get a propa reading, there will be more in the engine then shows on dipstick. in the morning as you say i reckon bud

Check after about 10-15 minutes when warm or first thing in morning but always on level ground! Don't know about other VTSs but on mine the oil level guage will show exectly full when the recommended 3.5 litres is put in at an oil and filter change but will be about 5mm above max on dipstick at the same time! This is my 4th Citroen and they all show above max on dipstick when the correct amount is put in at change! This is probably of no use to you at all!

between min and max is 2ltrs on vts, anything in between is fine, sometimes the oil stays up in the lifters, bare in mind if you have just changed it some of the oil goes to the oil filter which takes a short time to fill up.
If it doesnt go down below the lowest mark i wouldnt worry about it, but one question id ask is are all of your breather pipes connected and plumbed back into the engine or do you have breather filters?
