No it wouldnt!
Its the gearbox that stops it hitting 60 in 2nd not the power, its geard to 56mph in 2nd
some of the xsi are geard to 62mph
and it wouldnt drop straight in.
Its an xu series engine and the base car is a tu series so mounts are slightly different
best engine to drop straight in is a 106gti, vts or c2 vts as the mounts all line up
xsara vtr would fit,so long as its the 1.6 version which is tu series and not the 1.8 version which is xu series based

Was sure my GTI-6 did 60 in second (like I care?!?)
Best mod with the 1.4 is flog it and buy a GTI-6, they start at a grand. If you can't afford the insurance then I'm guessing you can't afford the insurance on an engine conversion

Speedo may show 60 but thats not a true reading
aye would be cheaper to get a standerd gti6 rather than a 1.4 converted one as the other parts costs like brakes, suspension etc would soon add up.

Makes sense, the gears are shortly stacked. I don't know how Evo got 6.9 seconds to 60 out of the Rallye when they figured that then with two gear changes, it certainly doesn't feel that fast!
The GTI-6 also gets nice wheels, leather, etc, etc so it's a no brainer. Even a minty late reg one like mine is only worth about 2300quid

superchips raise the rpm limit, thus allowing a higher speed in each gear. therefore it would :p
