basically i just want a very big radiator that requires minimal modifying to fit into my mk1 i know you can get alot of parts from a 406 to fit in and was wondering if a radiator from that would fit?
if not what else are my options?

ta from suvvy

bigger rad isnt really needed tbh mate
best way to keep the temps down is a better oil cooler (like a mocal one ect)
plus its easier to do

i have a nesens rad in mine, with VTS twin fan set up - was a piece of piss to fit, just the wiring that was annoying.

alternitavely, this is cheap (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-CITROEN-106-SAXO-VTR-VTS-LONG-RADIATOR-NEW_W0QQitemZ400007578006QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Car sParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item400007578006&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18)

AlexB

youd need the hoses to pipe it up mate
best place is just infront of tha rad in the widemouth

you still running the vtr rad or have you got a vts one in there?

vtr one , but i have my suspicions its not even a vtr one because when i compare it to other vtrs its smaller which sucks!!

get a decent vts/gti rad and you should be ok

get the vts fan housing too as the vtr one doesnt fit on the bigger rad
youll also need 2 more little rubbers to go in your lower slam to hold it properly

EDIT: also what have you doen with the vts oil cooler setup?
as a few guys run the vtr hose and oil filter setup and dump that off but imo you should allways keep it

im actually gonna try and fit my vts setup onto my westy as itll only get used on track ill need the better cooling lol

I vote diesel rad with sperate header tank way easier to bleed system then

AlexB
16th November 2008, 11:50

i got a rad which was meant to be of a vts, but it was bigger than the opening and required alot of cutting to get it to fit. Which makes me suspect it is of something else

Sophia_Bush

nah rads go 1.0, 1.1, 1.4 all early pre swap over years had the smaller rad 1.6 8v early ones had small rad to so in concequence had smaller apeture on the slam. ANythign else had the longer full length rad like the 16vs did.

The diesel ones had full length but with a sperate header tank

Oil cooler is pointless on a road car, wont be doing anything when your stuck in traffic.

Just stick with the original heat exchanger/cooler and just an uprated nissens radiator as mentioned above.

Sophia_Bush

thats the one all you need is a tpiece fromt he bottom rad hose going to the bottom of the header tank and the smaller overflow hoses from the rad to go back into the header tank aswell and just mount in on the slam panel next to the light

Mr_suv

"Semi trackslut"

So in other words you probablky do 1 track day a year and obviously drive the car to and from the venue.

Can you explain why you would benefit from an uprated oil cooler?
Proof that the standard item isnt doing its job?
Do you check your on track oil temps?

Sophia_Bush

I vote diesel rad with sperate header tank way easier to bleed system then

thats what i ran with my supercharger, easy to do and as stated, helps to aid with bleeding system.
rad is thicker and you get a wee bit more water in the header tank. just move the ecu and the origional deisel tank sits on the inner wing. ecu can go down the gap between the engine and the wing. jobs a good un ;D

im sure i good a saxo 1.5 diesel copper core rad from euro car parts for less than 80squid and a header tank from the scrappy for 5squid.

helped to cool the car down alot.

if you are wanting it to cool down with out the hassle of getting a new bigger rad, why not get an electronic fan controller. just plumbs into the system and you can adjust the temp that the fan comes on. higher or lower. in your case just make it come on 20degrees earlier and then fit a bigger fan to the rad.
