Ok people,
I have a 1.6 W REG VTR,
Ive been having troubles starting it lately like alot of people on the internet have, and sometimes it conks and all the symptoms relate to that of the clutch. It sometimes goes JITTERY or loses power uphill, and makes more noise than it does movement lol. Well turns out my fuel tank was fulla shit and my fuel pump was clogged up.
ANYWAY....
I need to buy a new fuel tank but aparently all VTR's have a color coded fuel tank, so I wont be able to just buy any old 1 for my 2000 W reg VTR.. Anyone know what color I might need or whatever?
THANX!!

Why do you need a new fuel tank?

Just replace pump / filter.

colour coded! who told you that? Thats pretty mad, theres two types of saxo fuel tank mate, a 35l and a 45l. As far as I kmow all other parts such as pumps and fuel return lines are installed separately but fit both.

You sure you dont just need a new pump not the tank?

Oh I rang up the scrap yard they said theyr all color coded or sum shit, But i need a new fuel tank because its full of shit, the person i bought it off must have filled it up out of dirty containers, had a new pump already 2 weeks ago, and new filters.. and already its full of shit and wont turn over sumtimes.

fair enough mate. Best thing to do would be to take it off and get the code off it. The 45l tanks are much more common, Did you ever fill it to the brim?

Can you not just clean the tank out?

Actually had a mechanic do that about a month ago, and the car broke down 4 HOURS from my house LOL... and encountered the same problems, so it must be full of crap, its easier to just buy a new 1.. I can get 1 for £30 which is bugger all.

Sorry to double post, but are you all sure theyr just 45L and 35L? I travelled 4 hours on just half a tank so I think mines probably 45L... Would I be right?
