Right, would someone like to explain what/how re-profiled cams do?

I understand the cams allow air in and exhaust gases out (i think thats right correct me pls)

But what would have them re-profiled to race spec as its called. Does it simply allow more air in for longer?

What sort of power gains do you get from such an upgrade? Whats also best to do with it, i.e remap, internals etc etc.

upgraded cams keep the valves open for longer. This means you need to get more fuel and air in at the right mixture to get more power, and more air and fuel means more exhaust gases so the exhaust valves need to be open a it longer as well.

For more fuel you need an ecu/piggy back or remap.

Best to do with it depends on how much you want out of it, more you want the more you spend and the list of mods gets longer.

Usual tuning, it costs to make power.

And for a power estimates, depends on cam profile, what condition your engine is in etc etc.

Whats the best kind of mod etc to get more torque out of a car?

Just wondering what sort of mods are best for torque and power, not expecting to get like 50bhp out of a single mod just want a bit more and for it to be smoother delivery.
