hi there. i was wondering if anybody knows a good 4-2-1 exhaust manifold for my 2001 51 VTR as this model came with the 2 lambda sensors. and also would i be able 2 fit a sports cat on to it? as the current cat sits on the manifold which i think is shit. thanks.

supersprint mani is a good bit of kit
you can move the cat to under the car yes

only thing to be aware of is you may need to relocate your oil filter so it sits like a mark 1

You would notneed to do this if you buy a SuperSprint manifold, only if you buy a Raceland will you have to convert the oil filter :y:

cheers guys. but what about the 2 lambda sensors or dont they matter? will the mk1 sports cat fit onto a mk 2 saxo?

fited a supersprint to my mates n I melted the housing an about 20 seconds

the lamdas may be a problem mate as 1 has to go behind the cat and if you move the cat it won't reach
however you can sleeve it to get away with it

sports cats I don't really rate I've seen a couple cars with em fail emissions

but a mark 1 cat will fit if you have the shortened mark 1 or vts centre section

well i didnt realy want 2 de-cat it coz it will fail the MOT. iv seen a Janspeed 1 which is designd 4 the mk 2 saxo with the 2 sensors. milltek have also made one but do you know if its any good? or what would you recommend? cheers mate.

get a piper, no need to relocate the filter and is one of the best manis out there :y:

I have got a miltek full system with mani with sports cat built in and have no prob with passing emmisions or loudness of either, sound realy nice and pops no and again! expensive thought!

cheers mate. nice one. im just worried about the lambda sensors. if i dont plug them in will that fuck up my engine or ECU in any way?

no mate it wont

you need the one above the cat in

the other one you can sleeve (gmc sell the sleeves for 15 quid iirc)

As above, I'd spend my money on a Piper or GMC manifold. The Supersprint is definitely well made but it's far too close to the oil filter - mine has started rattling against it. :(

You fit the first lambda sensor (green connector) into the manifold whereas you sleeve the post cat lambda (blue connector). Grab yourself a MK1 CAT and just swap it in place of the decat pipe when MOT time comes.

cheers mate. if i move the cat to the bottom (mk1 sports cat) which centre section will i need?

What exhaust you looking at buying? If it's something in three pieces like a Magnex or a Piper system, you will need everything but the decat pipe. If it's a Supersprint, you want the CAT back pipe rather than the Manifold back jobbie.

I can see the attraction of a sports CAT but imo, you're better off removing the CAT from the equation all together. A MK1 CAT and decat pipe to interchange will cost you considerably less than a sports CAT... only takes 5 minutes to swap as well. If you're hell bent on getting one, Janspeed do a manifold with a sports CAT incorporated - see here (http://www.kamracing.co.uk/club-discounts-63/saxperience-64/janspeed-4-2-1-exhaust-manifold-sports-cat-saxo-vtr-1065.html). :y:

i bought the car with a custom made powerflow system from the down pipe back. but i want 2 put in a manifold but dont wont 2 really de-cat it so it will pass the MOT without any problems. what you reckon?

I'm assuming powerflow have welded it so it's a one piece system... might be better off with the Janspeed manifold with sports CAT in that case. :)

thats what i was thinkin. but do you know if the janspeed 1 makes a difference in noise and performance.

Liam_

Not sure about noise but Janspeed claim...

This manifold from Janspeed specifically suited to the Citroen Saxo VTR with the optimum bore sizes to give excellent performance gains over the stock manifold.

Every little helps i guess. :)

best thing to do is bin the powerflow (they are shit)

and get something like a janspeed or a magnex

yeh nice one mate. thanks for your help. i am thinkin of changin the whole complete system. everyones recommended piper or GMC 2 me so i might just go 4 it. cheers guys.

My vote goes with Piper. My Magnex full system with decat wasn't loud and had no tone at all... sounded like a crappy exhaust that was blowing haha.

AlexB

pipers are good
but if you do dect they are extremely loud
i have mine decat and its stupid tbh

ammovtr
27th November 2008, 18:31
well in that case im defo going to put the cat on. is there much difference from a sports cat and stock cat? thanks

AlexB
27th November 2008, 18:34
not really much difference no
apart from the price and the fact a sport cat can fail emissions

tbh standard cat or a quiet system but decat is the way to go
