Anyone had any experience of these in a saxo? What sort of boost and bhp figures would you be looking at?

the ruboe is off a renault 5 to be honest av found them the best ones for size and boost as your proberly aware m8 if you run high bost all the time on a standars stock motor then your gona have problems so that why i chose this one plus my m8 has done the same and his goes like fuck, so if you do buy the car then i can talk over everything youl neeed to do to finish the project.
cheers

Some illiterate fellow off eBay, just wondering about the costs and power gains that you would expect

Mind if your planning on running boost and doing it on the cheap it will end up costing more on the long run..
Also remember you will need some form of management to controle fuel, i/c biger rad, Clutch if running more than 170hp.
The turbo will give good gains but the one to get is the turbo of the 200sx s16 cant mind turbo number..

they had the old school OHV push rod engines, really unreliable. But cos of the size and weight of them they were fast. The renny 5 turbo 2 was a 1.4 i think and was running about 160bhp, which is pretty sexy seeing as the weighed about 950kg.
They did 0-60 in about 6.5 standard and had a top speed of about 130mph. They were RWD too which is pretty smart for a small hatchback. hope all that helps mate :)
was lookin at gettin one once, either that of the G40 :y: Both smart single cam hatches.

Five GT Turbos were front wheel driver, your thinking of the very rare five gordini.

I was indeed. The front wheel drive version was 110 bhp. And there was also the maxi which went upto about 400bhp. The engines are really unreliable being pushrod so i wouldn't bother. If it means anything i was gonna choose the g40.

Being a pushrod engine makes no difference to the reliabilty!
Its turbos that have the boost turned up with out any other changes that make them un reliable.

i should imagine that there isnt many standard ones about anymore.

Ok. I was told they were unreliable! Lol. But they became extinct because they were good at high rev's but poor at power. And a twin can could get better performance out of the same engine.

so your not allowed to modified it at risk of it blowing up?
im losing count the number of heads my mate has gone through on his R5GTT... Hes uprated plenty of things and gone the right way about it, he loves it so much when its running that he doesnt care when its fucked cos he will just fix it again... but i cant see how this makes a good reliable car

am speaking from experience from my mates like...he has kept it 100% cus is happy with it as that but he never has any problems...looks after it and has just general wear and tear items go on it...took it to the nurburgring and never skipped a beat there and back...neither did any of the others either which were modified a fair bit.
believe its like any car really if the owner looks after it...it will be reliable.
fair play to modify them though they can push a fair bit of power out without much money spent on them:y:

hahha, like to catch fire. i think your right though, if you look after them then they are pretty much like any car, you just cant run much more power through the car than standard. :)

I think they could be an everyday car if you just treat it like an everyday car in the respect you don't mess with it and modify it. When they were first made i'm sure they wouldn't have made them so they couldn't of been used everyday. Its just its hard to get one thats been fucked about with or ragged. Quality classic little car though. Always have a place in my heart along side the Mk1 golf gti, polo G40, and the g60.
