Does anyone have a rough idea as to how much it wuould cost to have a specilist garage/company fit, wire and map an aftermarket ecu i.e OMEX 600?
And anyone know anywhere in the essex area that can do this?

for something like an omex supplied and wired in and mapped your looking at about 2k
on something like a kms (where you can get an adapter loom) you can get it all done for around 1500ish
depends on what pulg ecu you have and what extras you want ect
dunno of places in essex so cant help there sorry

ECU - price is whatever you can purchase it for. Obviously more for extras such as wideband sensor etc if they don't come as standard.
Fitting - depends on if your car is 3 plug/single plug. An adaptor may be cheaper, but depends if one is available. I'd say about 5 hours labour if hard-wiring - maybe more depending on complexity.
Mapping - this is the wildcard. Depends if any problems are found during mapping. For instance it was discovered with mine that the s/c bearings had gone, fuel pump wasn't 100% and one of the boost T pieces had a slight hole causing variances in readings. On top of all these issues, the garage had to narrow down what the problem was in order to determine what needed fixed. All begin charged the hourly rate.
I'd budget £2-2.5k for purchase, fitting, mapping. But really depends on more variables than just 'buy' 'fit' and 'map'.
You could get them to spend a day alone just mapping the cold start. Just depends what parts of the map 'need' done, and what parts can be 'glanced' at.
