not sure mate, tried plugs and HT leads?
tbf sounds like your choke is shagged perhaps?
so it would be getting off to a rough start.
is the car ok to start when the engine is warm?

i get this problem aswell mate and when at traffic lights sumtimes it cuts out after idling really rough, and have to open the throttle abit to make it start up. Lambda sensor for me, but dont know if that would contribute towards the bad starts too? Id like to know the answer aswell.

could be a number of things mate

best to do the following

cadd some injector cleaner to your fuel
fit new plugs
if your car has leads fit new ones
if not, it sounds like it could be the start of you coil pack going. my old vtr did that and i got a new one from eurocarparts after trying the above.

also have your battery checked out at a car accesory place, they will tell you if its on its way out or not. if its more than 3yrs old, it will probs need replacing.

if all thats is done and its still does it, whip your starter motor off and have that checked ;)

do you have ignition leads or a coil pack?

if you have a coil pack, change everything else 1st ;)
