depends totally on how much you want to spend, for a top end fully welded in cage you are looking at £1400-1800 fitted, but you can buy cheaper bolt in cages, or weld in cage kits, but for a proper race cage you are best looking at places such as custom cages and safety devices.

my safety devices was just under 900 not fitted
im execting about 4-500 to get it welded in
can get from that all the way down to a half cage for 200 quid that will be about 50 quid to fit as its 2 brackets than need welding and 8 holes need drilling
as said it depends what you want

yb racing do bolt in omp ones, weld in ones and they have the full mega race spec ones.
safety devices cages are the bomb.
i went for the omp one as it was a very very good price, im adding a few extra bits and bobs here and there.
yb racing on ebay ;)

Best to spend as much as you can if you wish to be safe. You must have the belts and seats to go with a cage or they can be very unsafe.

Bolts are fine. If they weren't they wouldn't be in the blue book ;)
The cage in my Scimitar racer is "only" a bolt-in. I have no fear that in the event of an enormous crash, the cage will be fine. The car on the other hand...

For trackdays, the OMP bolt-in will be more than enough. And at 370 quid from Kamracing, it's bloody good value!

remember though that the new omp bolt in cages require box sections welding in to bolt to.
SD cages are bolt in and widely respected throughout the world.

99% of bolt-ins require box sections welding in, but I get your point ;)
I honestly don't think that SD's "respect" is worth the extra grand though. Also, remember we're only talking about a trackday car here. I think it's good that he's considering one, don't put him off by telling him it's only worth it if he's going to spend four-figure sums!

I dont say that SDs are something that are a need to look at, it was expressing that the whole 'bolt in' being crap isnt the case, or else cages from SD wouldnt be so highly regarded around the world.
The old omp Bolt in cage wasnt on box sections, just spreader plates. The new ones are actual box sections that need to be welded in and then the cage bolts on that.
SD cages for saxos though worth mentioning are not an extra grand.

Yep my bad, I misread where you were coming from. I thought you were trying to press the SD weld-in as the option to go for. Realised what you meant when I re-read it :y:

no probs, omp i know had to change the regs of the bolt in cage to bring it inline with updated FIA regs, iirc it was to do with the front leg mostly, and the way it was fixed to she shell.
The omp weld in jobbies seem to have had mixed opinions from people fitting them of the 'ease' of fitting. Both my old bolt in ones went in easy, although for a taller driver we do feel that the sd cage mounts further back to the B pillar allowing slightly more flexibility for a seating position
if i was going weld in id use custom cages rather than a part assembled kit from SD tbh, but thats a bit xtreme for almost all road users

i know bolts arent that bad, but they cant beat having it welded in place.

Give www.rickyp-rpm.co.uk (http://rickyp-rpm.co.uk/contact-details) a call, pretty sure he can organise a OMP equivalent for you, even weld it in if you like ;)

bolts needed to keep it FIA regs are high tensile anyway so with 4 bolts on each foot i wouldnt worry.

plus ryan to have enough force to pull the bolt out the weld will usually fail first
weld in is only better for stiffening up the shell as there will be movement allowed in the bolts but the welds wont move
