Replacing Injectors

Basically my car has been misfiring quite badly, anyhow i changed

The coilpack
4 New NGK plugs
Ran some redex in

Well after them 3 it was still missing, so i just left it for the time being because i was skint, anyhow now i have bought some new injectors as i noticed my old ones ended up pissing fuel all over the place. Im going to fit them myself can anybody give me a quick step by step of how to do this please. BTW i have searched :y:

If you changed the plugs, was there a difference in colour with one of them? That should point you towards which cylinder is mis-firing.

Then the old switch-a-roo, try the plugs in different cylinders, see if the problem follows the plug.
Would advise the same with the injectors tbh.

One thing fixing a problem, another thing to know what it is in the first place.


From memory, (and on a 99 Mk1 VTR - so may be slightly different);
Remove coilpack - you said you've done before, so wont explain.
You should now see the fuel rail. I think off hand there is 3 10mm bolts holding it to the engine.
You should be able to unclip the fuel hose off the rail, squeeze the tabs on the connector and it should pull off. Although i'd advise to have left the car standing a while to depressurise the fuel rail, and put a rag under it (and avoid your eyes) as the fuel will go everywhere. (You may get away without disconnecting fuel hose - can't remember)
Each injector will have a clip holding it in place onto the fuel rail. You'll have to carefully take these off (and try not to let them ping everywhere)
Hopefully you should be able to remove the fuel rail from the top of the injectors. Double check its not attached to anything else.
The injectors should come out of the head fairly easily just by pulling them. They'll all be connected to the wiring loom, so either unplug them all at once, or one at a time before removing them completely.

Then reverse to fit. Make sure the injectors have O rings at either end upon refitting them too.

Cheers man !! do you not need to take the inlet manifold off then because the fuel rail is bolted to it and you can undo the bolts unless you take it off ??

I don't need to take the inlet off on mine to change the injectors - but yours might be different being a Mk2 VTR. You should be able to get at all the bolts holding the fuel rail without having to take off the inlet.

hmmm, well there is this one bolt on the inlet manifold that goes thru the fuel rail and it looks asif the only wat to get it off is to remove the inlet manifold, and my engine will be exactly the same as urs mate, 90bhp silver top vtr
