and what about a super charge?

JamesR
16th December 2008, 15:22
a super charger off ebay? or a REAL SUPERCHARGER? what about cams mate?

teammonster1990
16th December 2008, 15:23
a real super charger. a proper 1 not a 15 pound shit ting
what wil cams do?

AlexB
16th December 2008, 15:23
supercharger will give mad power if done right

do you have 7-8 grand for the engine though??

best bet is some good breathing mods to get about 10hp maximum

maybe a cam to get a few more

is yours teh 90bhp VTR or the 98BHP VTR?

90bhp with cams, descent induction kit, decent exhaust system including a manifold, and a rammap, will get you possibly in the region of 120bhp depending on the type of cam. could be more with a wilder cam.

98 bhp - 130bhp maybe again depending on cams.

but deffinetly get yourself a good induction kit to start, ( raceland, BMC cda, simota K an N gen 2 enclosed ) etc then agood cat back exhaust system, ( magnex, piper, ashely, peco etc) then a good mani ( janspeed, piper etc ) as said above, maximum 10bhp.

good luck mate. :y:

save 2-3k man up and either get it mancharged or homocharged. ALternatively could get bodies

VTEC-Saxo
16th December 2008, 15:46
what sort of power range you looking for ?

teammonster1990
16th December 2008, 16:02
wanna add about 30
wanna beat my mates 1.8 sri astra

AlexB
16th December 2008, 16:04
why do people allways wanna outrun there mates

for 30bhp
cam good breathing mods a remap and for good measure a flowed head would do it reasonably

prolly around 15-1700k spent there

VTEC-Saxo
16th December 2008, 16:06
can be acheived without a supercharger then if you have the money for a good exhaust unduction kit cams and remapp

VTEC-Saxo
16th December 2008, 16:07

VTEC-Saxo
16th December 2008, 16:42

1.8 Astras arnt all that mate, my pal has a 1.8 16v astra coupe and my vtr will easily keep up2 it till about 60-70 and after that he will pull away but there isnt too much in it tbh, and that was when the only mod my vtr had was a de-cat, now i have enclosed induction and a manifold and im pretty sure when i next see him out on the street ill give him a good run for his money.

loose the spoiler thats slowing you down or do you want the added downforce over the rear wheels for traction?

VTR_Craig
18th December 2008, 21:35
In english please

To make it faster you will need -

Enclosed induction, decent exhaust, decent manifold, decat

Bigger brakes

stiffer lowered suspension with strut braces

Quickshift

Cams with remap

Strip it - Weight is the biggest destroyer of power

lighter wheels with decent rubber

VTR_Craig
18th December 2008, 21:36
or do a VTS engine conversion, if that engine was cammed etc you would be looking at around 160bhp

18th December 2008, 21:47

Just buy a faster car if you want to beat matey. You'll save at least 30k haha

KamRacing
19th December 2008, 09:42
Good suspension and tyres will make you faster point to point than engine mods at this stage.

If you want to do the engine then look at manifold, induction, exhaust for starters. After that starts getting much more expensive.

go on ebay a get a saxo super chip, set you back about £2.99 and will give you ATLEAST 15 - 20bhp and will increase your mpg by about 10 - 20 mpg.

then you gunna be looking at some sparco harness pads and some ripspeed wiperblades.

and you've already got the eyelids and lexus ligts covered mate (y) shes a beast
