hi, ive recently got aa vtr its a mk2 51 reg, ive bin tidying up replacing parts here and there, was looking at the air filter today and noticed that there is a connector part missing that connects the resonator box to the air filter housing. what im wondering though is is the resonator box actually a necessity as im not entirely sure what its for it looks like an empty box to me? would it be ok to just get rid and place a cold air feed to it instead? i understand this questuion has probably been asked numerous times before n i do apologise but advice appreciated.

:hijack: sorry bout this.

will doing this increase the noise levels at all? or just help the engine breathe a bit easier?

shouldnt effect noise no
tbh it makes little difference but will be slighlty better if you get the feed nice and straight
