ok while ive been reading a few threads over the past days, and reading about back pressure. I know it wont make a massive effect on my my 1.1i lol, i just wondering what would be best, not really sure about the decat, purely down to the noise, but im wondering is the centre section with mid silencer is it too loud etc p.s sorry if that didnt make any sense
1. would it be best to get a decat ?? (supersprint make) link below
http://www.kamracing.co.uk/manufacturers-543/supersprint-610/supersprint-centre-pipes-617/supersprint-cat-back-centre-pipe-saxo-74.html
2. centre section with mid silencer (supersprint make) link below
http://www.kamracing.co.uk/manufacturers-543/supersprint-610/supersprint-centre-pipes-617/supersprint-centre-pipe-with-mid-silencer-saxo-122.html
thanks:), im just getting information so i can get one in the new year :p
p.s do not post if its going to say search, ive seen decat threads but only one or two for the 1.1i okay!

Wont it be really loud though ??
I dont think my ss backbox sounds at its full potential (due to the ye olde cat, original too), so either a decat or the mid silencer should make the exhaust better. I mean the other night my cat ting'd quite loud because it popped, i thought this isnt going to be too healthy for the cat lol, thats why im looking to replace it sometime next year.
Ben
19th December 2008, 09:58
Nah mines not loud, i've heard a hell of a lot louder than mine and thats what i'm runnin. I bought a Sportex Racing Tube. 49 quid. Just takes out the middle section includin the silencer, perfect fit tbh. Gives it that extra rasp, mine pops bangs quite a lot now too lol.
EDIT: Just looked at the links and the first one looks exactly like what i bought, its not a de cat btw. Its from the cat to the backbox i.e middle section.

What backbox have you got like ?? and thats quite cheap too for that racing tube!
When it popped the other day i thought it had shot a hole through the cat lol :zainy: id rather it not do that tbh
EDIT: ok thanks i just looked at your edited post :)

I've got a Sportex one buddy.
Piccy http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm249/bensambrook/DSC00481.jpg
Cost me 89 quid, the racing tube was 49 and my decat was about 40 i think. So i've basically got a cheap ass exhaust system but i really like it.
Quick video of sound goin through a tunnel ;)

my 1.1 was pretty good for sound decat straight through
87db when tested at donnington (so not hugely loud)
on the 2" box itll be quite nice imo

would really think about performance with a 1.1 just get the de cat straight through pipe.
Or just the straight through pipe.
No point paying extra for the one with a silencer in on a 1.1 imo

I have no silencer or cat on my magnex system is just a straight through pipe from the manifold back and i have deffinatly noticed a difference in performance it just feels more responsive.

Steve_vts; I know there i wont get any performance gains on my 1.1i, may sound silly but sine ive put my ss backbox on its been a tad quicker to 60mph but my cat is old and im sure it blows from the front a bit, so im looking for a replacement next year :)
Alex_vts; do you have any videos of your 1.1i decatted ?? if not no worries :p

I was thinking that also, but it would prevent wear and tear on it wouldnt it (weathering) ?? besides keep heat down
AlexB
19th December 2008, 11:50
well on a mild steal system it can make it get too hot and cause it to crack by the welds
plus itll hold water and may actually cause rusting faster
DawsonWicked

I always take ages deciding stuff like this :panic: i just want it to be correct pipe choice that all. Its like my exhaust, i didnt want a jap backbox because the noise didnt appeal to me, than after asking about the ss backbox and seen people reviews i thought yep, il have that (Great choice by me) just the centre section to sort out.
What about M.O.T time, will they still mot it, with a decat ?? or will they say "Hmm you need a cat, £200" if you get me lol, its not till after the next summer i dont think, so it should of worn in buy than i suppose.
