induction kit- you want a closed forced air induction - The best on the market is a bmc cda
cams - newmans, catcams, kentcams
exhaust system - depends, you can get cheaper systems which wont last as long, or spend a few hundred and get a miltek, magnex, supersprint, piper etc. and get a decat - adds a few bhp and noticable differance.
remap - depends where u live to which garage you can go to. prices would be 150 - 300 for 6 -7 bhp increase on vtr.

Ive got a mk 1 vtr, heres my spec:
Piper Cat-Bypass
Magnex cat back, 3.5" tailpipe
Janspeed 4-2-1 manifold
BMC CDA enclosed induction kit
runs very nicely together and made the car very quick, sounds amazing too :D always get plenty of good comments and looks!
A cat-bypass will make your car fail an MOT but its only a 5 minute job re-fitting the cat, so just keep it and put it on before your mot...

Start with basic mods like induction kits/exhaust system before thinking about cams.
Induction kits BMC/raceland are enclosed so give better power gains than the open filters. K&N gen 2 is a good compromise between open and enclosed kits :y:

i would go through breathing mods in first
induction kit
exhaust system (decat ect)
manifold
then cams and remap are the next step like
all in youd be expecting about 1800quid

don't think I'd spend that much money on the engine without uprating the suspension suitably.

Agreed, I only have induction kit and exhaust on my Gti, but I really need uprated brakes and my car lowered. Breathing mods before cams, or you'll see small gains from just cam as breathing mods compliment cams = bigger gains together :)
