Whaaaaaaaaaaaat, im taking my dash out this weekend then!
As far as the bonnet carpet goes, I noticed you can hear the engine significantly more with it removed. Which I dont mind. Also I think it takes a bit longer to warm up now, and when it gets cold and the car freezes up there are different layers of ice because of the thinner sections underneath the bonnet where its not reinforced which looks a bit odd.
And it makes water steam off the car when it rains and ive been giving it some lol

some do it as its hanging off or looks scruffy.

I left it because part of its the support for the base of your feet when using the pedals, but its coming out now lol

They always go soggy and greasy.
They weigh a fair bit and aren't necessary
They rub the paint away on your upper strut brace
I found the engine bay was a little cooler without it = performance gain (Minimal to say the least)
They start Hanging after a while
The list goes on!

i took it off thinking it would be a tad weighty, it isn't even remotely heavy, it weighs around half a kg. :n:
