so im thinking of putting a 4-2-1 on my mk2 1.1 but im not sure if its going to be worth the hassel. if put the 4-2-1 on when it comes to mot time id have to change the oil filter back and then the cat. or if i get a mk1 centre section with the cat in it id need the full mk1 centre section and back box as my current back box is welded to my centre pipe. so im just looking for some advise on what i should do leave as is or go for it because i realy dont want to pay 300 quid for the mk2 version of the 4-2-1 from cam.

it's not worth adding to a 1.1s performance in my opinion as you'll end up paying more for insurance anyway...
if you get a raceland for example, yes it will decat then, you have then two choices, for mot time; get a mrk1 cat which goes underneath the car(easier) or swop manifolds back over :y:

im in the same situation, ive got the manifold on tho, and im gonna go back to powerflow where i got the cat bak made up and get them to replace it with a mk1 decat pipe and weld a connector in, then buy a mk1 cat second hand, £20 for cat and probs £60 for s/s decat pipe new, any custom exhaust shop/fitter should be able to do the job. But if u just wanted to change the manifold, you wont need to change the filter back to a mk2? theres no point surely. if the mot place is servicing it at the same time just tell them.....

piper 285 so pretty wild tbh it is mapped and they were very good the garage that mapped it.
but my headgasket went a month ago and a put a extra thick gasket back on which changed the compression and knock the timing out. so i took it back to them to sort it out as it was stalling and all over the place and they retimed it properly apparently the valves were hardly opening.
before they timed it the emissions were 1684.
and after it was 55.
i think a pass it about 100.
don't know if it was legal before the headgasket went.

Oh rite kl, so u recon that it would have passed with the standard gasket and map then? Could be something to do with the compression that alters the emissions, although some cars seem to pass with no cat. guess its just how clean ur car is. Did they get it reall hot when they did the emissions test?

no i wouldn't of thought so i didn't see them do it. my car is very hard to get hot lol runs extremely cool at the time. my mate said the compression on my car is the highest he's ever seen and he works as a mobile mechanic. i would of guessed it was legal before the headgasket went.
