View Full Version : C2 vts metal inlet

Basically, i want to run a larger throttle body and a metal/ally inlet setup, would the c2vts inlet fit an 8v head or will it only go on the 16v lumps?
I know the s1 rallye inlet will only fit the early (blacktop) vtr models so that rules that out as mine is a late silvertop engine.
Is the only way to run larger tb and metal inlet to get one custom made?
Eg. Bogg brothers etc?

the C2 one wont fit straight on, have you checked the inlet pattern on your head as i have a silver top rolloer rocker head and that has an S1 alloy inlet on it, the downside to the S1 inlet is the 3 stud fixing for the throttle body, im cutting mine off and having a BMW one welded on
have you thought of changing your head to an early one or look at DP, i know they do an alloy inlet for the 16v

Emailed DP, they do make one for the 16v, but not the 8v, they could do but quoted me around £900 as it would be the first one they'd made.
Thought about running a black top head, but just rebuilt a silvertop head with new boosted cam :wall:
Think i'll leave it for now, i did phone bogg brothers and was quoted around £500 for inlet, fuel rail and larger tb.
Would i see a massive bhp difference with a larger tb and metal inlet setup?
I know it depends on what boost im running etc, but would it be worthwhile?

good look finding a c2 vts inlet 2nd hand, unless your paying the £350 new price.

S1 inlet will fit EARLY silvertops, but not LATE silvertops. Double check the port spacing on yours to make sure its definately a late one.
If you're lucky - you can pick up the C2 VTS inlets cheap. Mine was £120 delivered. But they aren't on sale often.

I will check - but the engine itself was taken from an 03 plate vtr! :wall:
Think thats too late for the s1 to fit?
Will have to have one made :n:

sorry to hijack but what else is needed to fit the c2 inlet?

Assuming you're fitting it to a 16v;
If its the J4 head - you'll need to drill/tap the head.
If its the JP4 head - it'll bolt straight on.
Then the next major problem is the fact its FBW throttle body. Although you can use your VTS throttle body, and a £35 conversion plate from GMC to overcome this.
Don't think there's much else that'd cause problems.

yeah sorry mate it would be going on my 16v project. its a j4 (saxo vts) as i believe the jp4 is the c2 one isnt it? if it uses the saxo TB is there really a big increase in the performance os not worth it?

Thibk it makes a small difference but its a better set up for the high hp boosted boys since you can mod it to fit 8 injectors in to it

Yup - main/only reason i'm using it is for the potential benefit later of managing to weld another 4 injector bosses onto it and run an 8 injector setup.
For N/a - the hassle for the payoff just wouldn't be worth it IMO - unless it was a JP4 head. For a J4 head i'd stick with what you have.
Neil - ended up getting the plate from John. TBH for the price theres a lot of work gone into it. And makes things much easier for me. Still wouldn't mind figuring out how to convert the FBW throttle housing to wire - but mainly for future conversion benefits. Only guy i know thats done it hasn't been back on SSC in the past 3 months since i PM'd him.

im making my own plate to use 172 TB on saxo inlet so could make some plates up for saxo TB on c2 inlet easy enough.

Find someone on the Bay selling parts off a crash damaged C2 VTS. Preferably flood/front end damage where they think the engine is goosed.
Then someone comes along offering cash for part of the engine they thought would be worthless cos its dead. Both of you are happy :)
