that white saxo from blackpool was something else! i saw it in a few different videos and read the lads progress thread from start to finish and i was well impressed. i was gutted for the lad when someone crashed into him and wrote it off. someone in a rover pissed or something wasnt it?

Also i know a lad with a 1.8 VTR Turbo.
Fitted with a stroker kit, around 230/240Bhp.

Check it out on youtube, put in 'saxo turbo stroker'

how many people have got the stroker kits and are they reliable? seem like a canny upgrade imo, not cheap of course but then again what is these days

Was considering the 1.8 stroker kit with forged crank, it is expensive but i'd imagine very worth while!

There is a boosted vtr on here in an ax shell running close to the 300 figure - pretty impressive for an 8v :y:

Seems to me that at a certain point its how well u can get the power down more than the barry big time bhp figuire does it not?

Ryan
14th January 2009, 02:37
depends its not just about biggest bhp.

boosted seems to be who doesnt blow the shit out of the gearboxes,

and NA its who has the money to afford a gearbox that is capable of getting the nest out of a very peaky engine

My VTS has got the standard 1.6 16v VTS engine, wossner pistons and h-beam rods, camms, turbo, quamist water injection, and a few other bits and pieces in there and when it was first RR after the conversion, it RR'd 298.4bhp. It was RR 247 when I bought it- turned out to have a dodgy compression on first 2 cyclinders so Ive had it rebuilt. So It will be somewhere between those figures once its finished.

Ive heard of VTS' pushing out 400bhp+, but ive never actually seen any over the 300 mark in the flesh.

personally i wouldnt want a 500bhp saxo, you wouldnt be able to get it all down off the line, id say 200bhp and a decent suspension and brake setup to be faster than most things. mate its not all about outline power figures, you need to uprate a lot of other things aswell.

Agree:y: To be honest even just over 200bhp at the wheels is frightening. You have so much power spare you can quite happily to a rolling burnout as if you were stood still at 60mph. You have so much power to spare that you will hit the rev limiter in 5th on the standard in no time and be doing over 140mph in need of another gear. However these cars really don't handle at these speeds. They start wanting to fly. Swap the box out and over 150mph is easily achievable though I would not recommend trying it unless you have a half mile wide runway to try it on. These cars a so lights and have quite low drag that you don't need much power to make them go fast.

Totally agree mate. As said, mines in the region of 250 and 300 and thats more than enough in a car like a saxo. Bit over the top really lol. But it is nice to have that power sitting there lol

haha im not sayin big bhp is the way forward, id be over the moon with a vts pushin around 160, was just a thread to ask how much power can be had from the tu, tbh 500=bhp in a saxo an your gune need wings and airbrakes hahaha

Shak
15th January 2009, 18:33
i've seen about 450bhp in pfcm, a greek 106 running something like low 11 second quaters@160mph roughly. looks standard apart from the bus intercooler hanging out the front where the grille and bumper used to be.
