Black top heads have a different combustion chamber shape with a smaller volume.
The black top have a very different cam profile, Different rockers setup and harder valve springs.
I don't recall off hand the cam bearing sizes in the early grey top but there is a possibility you cant swap the cam from one to another.
Come to think of it there were different pulley sizes on some TU engines as well so its worth checking if your planning to swap them to.
Sorry its been years since I have even looked at a early grey top engine.

so if i used the head and cam and rocker set up etc from the blacktop with my grey top pulley and cambelt etc would this be useable? also will my rocker cover fit the blacktop head?
