just seeking some advice on vts camshaft upgrades. im normally used to talking about ford engines so not big on knowledge for vts engines.
Im wanting to know; how much? where to go? increase in power? those sort of things.
My vts as been chipped by power engineering, 4-2-1 manifold, green cotton induction kit, s/s exhaust.
also seeking some advice on supercharging or turbocharging, which suits the vts best??
cheers guys, Dave M

kam racing place to buy from, catcam 708, newman ph3 or ph4 are always good, 140bhp are usual results after these cams, looking around £300 unless you can get involved in a group buy

Rough price of fitting and remap too? About the £1000 mark isnt it?

cams are easy to fit on a vts, then leaves you with a bill of like £6-700

With Cams usual results are 150hp-160hp depending if you have standalone and who maps it.
You will be looking at about £300 + VAT for the cams from QEP.
As for the re-map again depends where you take it.
Chipwizards is a popular one, they charge about £400-£450 + VAT.

LOL worthy to say the least.
I know a guy who bought a £50 HDI remap off ebay, was a student with a laptop and mapping software. And it worked quite well, I think it was estimated at 110-115, so not the best of maps but still not bad for £50!

thanks for the advice guys. im thinking of fitting the cams myself and then towing it down to a rolling road station and having a new cam belt, timing, remap and a rolling road session all done to get the set up spot on. the vts is already 140 bhp ( dyno sheet proves it) so i reckon that should see 170-180 bhp easily, dont you reckon???

nowhere near.
Cams and a remap will give between 150 and 160bhp at the crank.
Headwork and Throttle bodies will take that to 175+ and then you need different cams, rods, forgies etc.

Whilst on the subject of cams...
How accurate are the VTS cam pullies with regards to setting up the timing for after market cams? Mate of mine insists I'll need something like Kent vernier's to set up the timing correctly.
Surely a timing disc and some careful adjustments would suffice?
Cheers.
