im probably going to be getting catcams, heard good things about them. good alround cam. and the best bit is that you dont need a remap to run them, so you can get it in your own time, which suits me, as i am going to fit mine, then buy standalone in march.

not that i no of mate but when you find this magical place that does all these amazing things let me no please?

the newman have the biggest duration out of the fast road cams by someting like 0.3 of a mm. if im wrong someone correct me please. they also run fine with out a map, mine does not even tick over lumpy now when its warmed up.
imo i would go for these epecially for the £ :y:

same with the newmans, kent cams etc... if there installed correctly they will all "work and run". its down to installing them to get it to idle or get it to idle smooth and run fine, not the cam its self unless it has a bonkers profile like a true 275

you can run 708s with out a remap as well.

but to get the most from the bigger duration you need to alter the ingnition and injections maps via a re-map or by fitting and mapping a standalone ecu.

agreed mate, my car would be mapped if i had not just been laid off, but i no a few cars that have never been mapped but set up correctly and they run fine:y:

i know a few lads that have drove around for months without a remap, dosnt do any harm.

you can get them running fine.. but why spend all the money when u can get a better gain when mapped.

in ur case i understand

also agree with boz there. my car is cammed and unmapped, loads more potential sat there. i want mine mapping badly but there is no way i can afford it at the min

alot of people run them un mapped due to the cost of camming and mapping. its a large amount of cash to fork out in one go so alot of people run them unmapped for abit till they can get the cash for a re map or a standalone etc.....

im only running them until march time unmapped, i am fitting a jp4 head also. i will map my standalone when it is put on, as the cams will be bedded in, then will remap it in may when bodies are fitted. easy peasy.

alot of peeps have said the mpg is better when mapped as well ;)

mjLvts

yeah true and i agree in some ways, but my personal view wud be just wait till u can get it all done, if so buy the cams, and then save another week or 2 , month and get it all done

cams dont take to long to fit and you can save yourself a big wedge of cash from doing it yourself. not that hard to do either. im doing min soon, will be doing the headgasket, headbolts, cams, belt, tensioner pulley, water pump etc.

some peeps have even said that there was very little difference between the cams on standard map and the cams on a re-map.

so its a choice between newmans and 708s, but newmans get a better duration out the 2, by 0.3 mm
