i want my rev limter raised to 7 and a half k, have a 53 plate vtr, its totally mint, only 45k on the clock. is this worth doing? what would i need a chip or remap. would it harm my engine after a while

Theres really no point dude unless you have high revving cams. Once it hits the 'normal' rev limiter which is usually at 6250ish then theres not much power to come and torque starts trailing off. So basically your best off changing gear pretty much, unless of course your going for cams.

why do you want your rev limiter raised? youll have no power up there as it will be off cam, no point

Remaping is much more expensive then chip, but is better and you should get more power.

maybe a dumbass question but what sort of rpm could you raise the limiter to on a mk2 vts(induction kit,4-2-1,de-cat,ph3 cams) with out blowing it to bits?

a pooperchip wont raise rpm on 3 plugs either.
