Hi i with everyone talking about engine transplants i was wondering wether you could fit a VTS head on a VTR engine??? is this possible? would you need to change things like the crankshaft pulley to accomadate the timing belt etc. or are the engines totally different cheers

head bolt holes dont line up, would need to fit the vts pistons as they are rebated. Just as much hassle as fitting whole engine

ive actually done this so ill elaborate.

The head does go on and the head bolts do lign up, but its not that simple.

The VTR I did this on had forged pistons with valve cut outs so there was no problem about valves hitting pistons, on a std vtr the pistons would need valve cut outs or a slightly thicker head gasket to make sure they dont hit.

The VTR doesnt have a cam breather pipe/hole return to the sump so you need to drill a 19mm hole in the vtr engine to return the oil/gases to the sump. The oil level stick is different and needs boring out for the VTS oil level stick to go in.

The pullys are different on the VTR engine to the VTS in such that you need to swap them for VTS pullys/tensioners.

Im pretty sure thats it although ive bound to of forget something.

But basically its alot of work and you need some things off a vts engine ie pullys etc and oil return etc as you really dont want to block this off as will cause lots of crank case pressure, bottom line id buy a vts engine.
