hi, was thinking of getting my car remapped at evolution chips where they apparently put a chip in your ecu to re programe it.
it says power increase of 8bhp? that good?
what kind of power would i be looking at when remapped if ive got a full exhaust system, manifold, induction kit and cams?
thanks

any chips arnt good. full live remappings are better as they adjust your car for optimum performance!

depends which model you have

this is what it says

In most cases your vehicles ECU will be reprogrammed using the latest flash remapping technology meaning that we can send the new "chip" into the ECU via its on board diagnostics port (OBD) or alternative serial programming port. This means we don't have to even remove your ECU from the car and there are no external signs of tampering or parts added to the vehicle whatsoever. The perfect remapping solution.

will it mean they chip it?

never heard of them, whereabouts are they? and a "chip" isnt going to be the best as above, go for a live remap.

just out of personal interest are bluefin any good? i dont suppose they are liek but just wondering, and what about the company "superchips", i have seen them advertised by the likes of demon tweeks etc are they that bad?

the chip they are speaking of is just a map, some chips actually can be good as they are a chip which is put in a chip port in your ecu and mapped to suit your car or needs, when people say chips are shit they usual refer to chips that just have a certain mapp loaded onto them that isnt specific to any engine or needs, these are the types of chip that are shit

pm me
i live in stoke on trent and know a few places.
in general, if you want a decent remap and power increase then cams, decat, exhaust system etc will give u most power increase with a remap.

however people say generally chips are shit
which is true.. companies like superchip and bluefin are pretty good from my experience, a mate had his 206 chipped with bluefin and it was absolutely rapid..

my advice
dont buy a cheap chip, if your gonna get it chipped and not fully cammed and mapped, then make sure the companies reputable.

stay away from ebay chips!!!

its not a ebay one he is looking at

tbh mate your better saving the extra cash and getting a custom remap or a standalone if you can afford the extra and it will be set up exactly for your car

from that they wont actually be chipping it, they will be mapping it via the ODB port. some cars you need to fit a chip to but some can be mapped via the ODB like what they do.
people that are saying to get a 'live remap' coz its better, how do you know they dont map it? they will prob just download a generic map if you take a standard car in but if the engine has been modified i suspect they'll probably map it properly.

aloty of people say a live map and dont even know what it means, you can get a very good map done on your car at good tuners but i live map requires the car being live plugged in and on a rolling road to map it and make sure its timed efficiently

ebay chips = uberpower, i heard they originate from shinoble's nuclear blast and they retain ultimate power!....naaatttt they just bypass a resistor on the temp sensor if i'm not mistaken?
