Wait for a vts/gti gearbox to come up, or even a 1400 xsi box. They go for around £100-150, fit it with a new clutch £50. Much better accelerating vtr without spending the earth

You will see gains with a decent induction kit, de-cat manifold, exhaust system, cam and remap but its going to cost the best part £1500 if you buy new and dont fit anything your self. Depends what you deam "worth it"?

exactly what i was going to say its all if you deam it "worth it" for instance i have saved quite a lot of money i do all my modifications myself. And most modifications will give a small noticiable difference, all together they add up to a bigger difference.
Also add a ported and polished TB to your exhaust, mani, inndcution etc i consider it to be one of the best breathing mods available fo the money.
I can safely say that with:
induction kit
catback exhaust system
4-2-1 manifold
and a ported and polished TB
you will definetly notice a gain without a doubt.

i have just a exhaust system and open indcution kit along with a ported and polished TB and i can definetly say there is a difference.
