As some may be aware i've recently had my 2003 VTR cammed with newmans ph3 and a vernier pulley.

I want to know the limitations of the rpm and speed of the unmapped VTR's capabilities.

I'm just curious as last night the car felt restricted in 5th gear at 6.4k ish (estimate).

Is there anything i'm missing? The car doesn't sound like its not capable of doing more but it just doesnt...

Help me please.. :y:

you do know your supposed to take it steady and run the cam in yea??

so beasting it straight off is a bad thing

Nothing like everyone makes out.. It is lumpy but nothing extremely terrifying..

im running my vts in which has been cammed recently , you should be able to ring up from where ever you got the cam and they will tell you. mine was on first start up immedietly run cam on fast idle between 2000 and 3500 for 15 mins (then i did my 2nd oil change) and im running it in not going over 4500rpm for 100 miles.

but im not sure about other cam makes , hope it helps

a well known engine tuner near me, runs cams in at 2 to 2.5k for 20 mins thats all they ever do. you could take it steady for 50 miles gently getting higher in the revs as you go?

The PH3 has shifted the power band up the range to 3-7k revs. Without a remap and raising the rev limit, you're going to be holding it back somewhat as you're having to shift at 6.2k.

From what i've heard, you only need to let the valve springs settle which is a couple of miles driving tbh.

id ring newmans and ask mate then theres going to be no confusion. i can remember having a chat with chris at manic motors about the PT40 not that long ago and he dint say anything about running in slowly or not over revving.

its only turbos and TB's that need running in, just idle it for 10/15mins to let the springs settle back down etc

yup me too

there is big debates/conspiracies over running in of engines.
