Hmm. I could be interested, but... Are they going to map each individually and on the rollers or not

when would you be looking at this?

iv got a system n mani on they as we speak

up to 30bhp on a remap LOL!!!!!!!!!

thats realy hopeful tbh

Steve
16th February 2009, 14:25
how can you have a different price for a stage 1 and stage 2 ecu remap???? lol

do the same thing but havnt altered the fueling and ignition timing as much i guess.

Sounds dodgy to me imo

as ryan said lol

Jorge-
16th February 2009, 14:26
Does sound really shitty tbh.. Reading their site, just generic maps they stick on it seems.

Steve
16th February 2009, 14:28
sounds to me they download a already loaded map (which you can buy for £45) and they are simply flashing it to your car.

If i had the cable i could easily map most modern turbo deisel cars lol

Proper remap imo is not just about getting the ecu set correctly but getting the valve/camshaft timing correct, which is what wayne at chipwizards does.

Good on you for trying to sort it, sounds dodgy as fuck imo.

dont cry, we have pointed out valid points.

Have you got details of how he actually maps the car?
Does he go into the ECU live? or is he simply copying a map on? (then he will have to edit the check sums for each car)
Can he do 3 plug and single plug ecus?

its the stage 1 and stage 2 bullshit that gives it away and makes it sound very very micky mouse.
should be the same price as your actually doing the same thing lmao.

So is this group buy purely for guys with a VTR and the exact same mods as you, same engine servicing etc etc?

how much does wayne charge for the full works?

What he told me was that its open to any car, and he customises the ECU.
Thats all i know for the time being until he gets back to me.

No its open to anything.

1/4 of what your car is valued as.

Out of curiosity, for stage I, when he looks at the peak power load site, and chooses the fueling and ignition timing, does he *choose* to make it produce less power than the stage 2 so that stage 2 still has some value?

When you map a car, you hold the rollers at a certain RPM, and you adjsut the ignition timing and fueling to produce the maximum "live" BHP on dyno. So, for stage I do they find peak power and then come back a bit? Otherwise what's left for stage2?

I'm not being obnoxious, I am genuinely curious

Kind regards
Andy

Thats all i was told mate, when he gets back to me i'll have more info myself, and upon that will be my decision on wether i'm going for it or if i'll have to sell my left arm for chipwizards.

PETE-VTR
16th February 2009, 14:53
he mentions nothing about timing as such, just the actual change of the map...

wait and see what he comes back and says...

Lads don't slate him for trying to help others, he could have kept it to himself tbh, but is trying to help people. Whether it's a good service or not is for the people interested to decide, not everyone who has their 2p on it. It seems fairly simple to me, if your not interested don't post!

Thanks for mate.
Every day someone else asks where to get their ecu mapped! Everyone says chipwizards but it costs rediculas prices.
For a change those who cant afford £500+ have a chance of getting what they wanted.

16th February 2009, 19:12
because no-one else maps the standard ecu PROPERLY.
you car wont be 'mapped' as good by them as it would by wayne. he will load the same map onto every vts that goes in their. anyone can do that. wayne and others that actually map a car have some skill. not just copy and pasting files.

fair play mate just go for what you can afford but if you can wait the perd ecu is coming out for the vtr soon and that will be around 550 fitted and mapped up if we can get a group buy sorted for it and that will be around the same price as a wizards remap(Y)

Ryan
16th February 2009, 21:27
Lol at spitting the dummy out.

The reason others have posted commenting on the reliability of the claims/work is because they are looking out for members, You wouldnt just allow your mate down the pub to go and buy a fake football shirt for £40 if you knew it was fake would you? you would actually tell them.

unless you think hes a cunt in which case you will point and laugh

I'm not taking anyones side here, but you've kinda got to imagine if these remaps gained 2bhp at best, and knackered your car at worst. You'd have a bunch of angry Sax-P members on your hands.

But if you have a decent remap off them and its worked wonders then this is a great contribution. Its just hard to recommend services to people when you havent tried them first hand.

Re-mapping is such an awkward subject too as there are a lot of cowboys out there.

just because no1s ever used them before means their wank...
so why should i take it in the neck for trying to give a cheaper alternative? when people dont know facts etc.

JoshB
16th February 2009, 23:52
No it doesnt, but what if someone on here did go to them on your recommendation and it ruined thier car.

the fact is, they are claiming high bhp gains from it, as many people know adjusting the fueling and therefore map should be done on an independant basis.

if they are touching the ecu and therfore mapping it why the need for a phase 1 or phase 2? as its the same work.

Generic maps totally defy the point of a remap imo. At the end of the day, you want something tailored to the spec of your car and mods to maximise gains.

I wouldn't let anyone near mine unless someone with a similar setup could vouch for their work.
