The plug is different, not sure if they work differently or not though

yes, they wont even connect up if you have the wrong 1.

As above, it depends wether you have the single plug or 3 plug ECU

The 3 plug has an extra lug on the connector there, you could remove it or put a single plug pack onto a 3 plug engine as long as internally they work the same :detective:

just chop a connector in
