right guys i have a 2000 V Reg CITROEN Saxo 1.6i 16v VTS and wanted to know a few things about a few things

im in the process of modifing it while i use my 1.4i saxo to drive around in

the main things i wanna do to it is

1. put a high spec turbo in
2. convert it to 4 wheel drive

any one know how much this would set me back roughly (if its possible for the 4 wheel drive)?

have you got £20K to spend on the car?

Thats one hell of a project, escort cossie or focus running gear would be good and expect to spend atleast 50% more that what you originally planned to.

That is a LOT of work mate, my one of my friends is currently attempting this with a 106 mi16 conversion and a cosworth chassis/donar car.

It has been off the road for 3 years!!

LOT of custom work!! :panic:

dreamer i think not money is not a problem.

im not expecting this project to take a few months i hope it takes a few years at least its done right that way.

3 post's dude to the simple fact my previous car was not a saxo and if im not not mistaken this is a saxo related forum?

that and befor i had my saxo's (yes i now have 2) i had never even though about making a project car but since my split with my partner i have alot more spare time (and money) to get down to the nitty gritty stuff i.e. making the VTS something to make peoples jaw drop.

so ripping off the new guy aside thanks guys for the genuine comments.

theres only a few decient sites that sell modification parts interior/exterior/engine what sites do you guys know/recomend?

GMC are quite good for turbo's mate and they know what they are talking about. http://www.gmcmotorsport.co.uk/
Kam on here also sells quite a few decent parts, www.kamracing.co.uk

You can also have a look on the for sale section on here when you are able to, decent parts to be had and even on ebay there are some good bits about.

if you are heading down that sort or project route then needs to be properly thought out, not a lot will end up as off the shelf parts.. especially when you consider suspension, engine mounts, driveshafts etc

i would hazard a guess that if going 4wd then you won't be using peugeot running gear or engines.

to give you an idea on how much work would be involved look at my thread on the peugeot 309 with s2000 rwd conversion

http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=103224&highlight=s2000

haven't made much progress lately. been too busy but gives you an idea on how much work is involved. Basic chassis fabrication running into about 100 hours work

dare i estimate the costs to date.. gulp here goes
average mechanic rates say £45 ph thats £4500 labour
parts engine / wheels / tyres etc approx £5000
materials £1000ish
shell £1500
Spraying £2500
--- whats that about £14k

future costs - guestimates
labour another 30-40hours est
fabrication of prop - £200 est.
wiring / hoses / radiator / window/fuel pumps / fuel tank / swirl pots - 2500
dry sump £1500
Throttle bodies / ECU £2000
Mapping £500ish
Cams £500
--- £daren't add it up

ha i'm gutted if thats the case .. would love a ferrari

seriously though this car should be pretty good. Bit of a lifelong project but I'd rather get it spot on than rush it
