just a few questions if anyone can help.

ive looked about and read a few threads about the conversion, im looking on more info on the turbo's units,ie what turbos are a preferred fitment or able to fit etc what plates are used on the downpipe and manafold?

i have a freind who said he would modify the standard pipework to house the turbo, what angle do they sit at ? as some turbos need tilting ??

ive seen a few scooby/escort rst turbos for resenable money but unsure if they fit etc suppose if u have plates anything will fit but is there turbo that works better or better for the saxo ?

can diesal turbo units be used ??

also where do you run the piping from for the fifth injector ?

i also already have a pace intercooler from my old rs turbo has anyone used on of these on a saxo before ? just wondered if theres room without removing the bumper. same size as the deepth as std one just a lil longer

anyhelp would be great and much appricated even links as im trying to gather as much info as possible

firstly - how much have you to spend?

you could go for a t25 which would probably suit that saxo the best as you get good gains, not much lag and it doesnt run out of steam quickly unlike a t2 (Renault 5 gt unit)

if you have the cash on the other hand i would contact a few companies about getting a hybrid made. thatway you get a turbo that spools up quick and boosts its bo**ox of right up to the limiter.

With regards to the turbo being on an engle its a compromise of how it fits in the engine bay along with keeping good flow. You see if the turbo bolts to the manifold at say 45degrees the exhast gases are gonna make that bend extremely hot and its not gonna flow as well as if the turbo was pointing with the flow of the pipe.

your always going to be better off buying a custom made manifold (equal legth would be best but £££) and then the downpipe can be modified to suit the position of the turbo.

are you running standard internals or forging?

the fifth injector piping wants to be plumbed in off the main fuel supply pipe that runs to your injector rail. a plastic t piece can be used for this. I would advise an unprated fuel pump and FPR also.

Youwill be surprized at the size of intercooler you can fil behind the saxo bumper. to be sure just take the grille off with the citroen chevrons on and drop a tape measure in there.

well i have roughly 300 a month spare for the next 4 months hense i thought turbo it while i have the money! will be slow but ill get there no point rushing

its standard internals for me unless i free up more cash. seen a few t25turbos and at a good price so they may be the route i take, id like a after market manofold seen sum on ebay etc around 250 deliverd may look in to that too.

think ill look at a bigger intercooler as i want it neat and tidy and the rst ones looks bit small for it i think.

with regards to the fuel pump, and fpr is there any that ppl recommend?

also been reading that the timing of the ignition will need to be changed is this correct? to avoid pinging ? also read using high octane fuel will help avoid pinging, if the ignition hasnt be adjusted ?

sorry for all the questions just trying to get as much info as possible

id chack what turbo's the manifolds on ebay are compatible with. you can pick an intercooler up off ebay for around £60 that will fit the bottom mouth of the bumper exactly.

yes mate the car will need a remap to get the best of the power your looking at £400+ for the map. (this will change the ignition timing) id go for a 4bar FPR but not 100% sure on the fuel pump. The bigger the engine the more fuel it needs to feed so i would look at people breaking peugeot/citroen cars with say a 2l 16v engine

i cant imagine the fueling will be upped by a stupid amount as were only talking 8psi max here

my ibiza cupra spikes at 24psi at 3000rpm and holds that to near redline where it drops to 18psi

standard they get 35mpg im pulling 33mpg at the mo so not all that much of an increase in fuel consumption.

dont even try to do a turbo conversion on 1200 quid you wont get much of a setup and it will be really unreliable

if you do want to do it woul would be best to get a stanadalone managment kms vems etc

using 5 and 6 injectors is with an mf2 and a sig con is really old school although it does work it is very inaccurate comapred to just using 4 injectors

how much power are you after?

i dont think he is planning on getting it all polished off at once mate. he said its gonna be a slow process. but lets be honest. everones loves the 'budget racing' shop no a days!

the only major issue I have noticed, your not going to get the gains your looking for if your running the standard 8v internals you would have to run at very low boost if your wanted it to be reliable and even then its not going to be the best option you will just blow it up. I would personally spend the money on a good cam and management

At 8psi your going to need about 70% more fuel, you'll need some aftermarket injectors and a fuel pump IMO. You should see around 50% more power, but a turbo engine runs a slightly lower AFR than a n/a. On saying that, standard cars run a little rich so you might get away with 60%.

As for the turbo parts, I'm currently building a VTR turbo for somebody who hasn't spent a lot more than £1200.

it wll be better to uprate the internals mate or your just basically going to blow the money ive got a t2 hybrid fully reconed if your interested send e a pm maybe have a vts turbo manifold to go with it aswell

sounds like a good project imo ask before you do it i have just been buying parts as i sse them going cheaper than normal and not rushing thats the way i wont even know ive spent the money about 3/4 threw my parts list and not spent anywhere near a grand yet :y:

not looking at massive gains id be happy running 8psi if im honest.

i just love boost, missing it loads i dont care what any one says boost is the dogs go nads for me lol

as said ive got that for the next 4 months and if i get the bits for that ill save for the rest after but thats the main bulk of my money.

im looking at doing it over time if i havent got the money ill just save just gathering info/ideas tbh.

looking at all options, thats all at the moment.

yeah i could wack a cam and new polished ported head etc on it... but thats not what i want, dont even want the shiny bits i want it all gloss black and matt black under the bonnet

thanks for the info so far ive googled bits already and reading countless threads so ill get there theres alot more to it then i thought tbh and i can see how the £££ adds up lol

how close are you to finishing in fella ??

id love to spend that type of money but id be tempted to get a fiesta turbo if i spent near that lol.. not the biggest ford fan but do like them.

with the remap would that be done on a new ecu or would it be on the standard one as i thought the standard ones were set to one map? i think im confusing my self here

hope so 300 mark maybe

for that power you WILL need to use a stand alone ecu and bigger injectors/fuel pump/pistons etc

if i decided to go down the internal route what parts would need to be upgraded?

pistons etc ?? and is there a thicker gasket i can use instead of using 2 to lower compression ??

thanks in advance

you can get a mf2 from quite a few places but the sidcon can only be bought from gmc motorsport

low compression pistons is all you need mate ive got rods as well but these are mainly for strengthening the engine id also get new shells etc so you know its all spot on you can get a compression plate to lower the compression but id rather go for pistons for safe piece of mind
