wouldnt do it
drag (both mechanical and aerodynamic) wouldnt really allow it unless you had silly power right to the limiter

something like ryans vtr tbh

about 220bhp is top spec 1.6 16v from the F2 saxos

that would comfortably cost £20K for the engine + gearbox

the old vts could hit 60 in about 6.2 / 6.3secs and would pull off the clock (whatever that speed is.

220bhp is not the top spec for this engine. This is the top spec for rally car because of the restrictions. There is drag racing prepared engines with much higher spec's than this.

yes the series in which the saxo was in has restrcitions on the engine, so of course theres more out of the engine without the limitations.

on a vts box though.

Although i question if a mildly tuned vts has the power to overcome drag etc... in order to obtain 160

And also, when you go past 7000rpm, there's not a lot of beans left, unless you're running fairly wild cams.

hence my comment about the limiter
mine stopped going at about 140ish just nothing left in it
plus how light the front goes much faster wont be too clever

M27 between junctions 1 and 3. Virtually straight, and flat. Nowhere for rozzers to get you really, just do a sighting lap and give it some welly!

to the people with 0 - 60 times of just under 7 seconds in a vts, is that just main breathing mod's or cam's etc?

My 106 GTi (Mildly modded) pulled 6800rpm on a VTR box, which according to the calculator in the premium section works out to 153mph on 195/45/15's. I'd say given enough space it'd probably be possible.

hope this isnt too stupid (noob to techy mods) but why does a vtr box improve top end speed? and does it counter accelleration?

ive had 134mph in my standard vts and was scary enough so probs not something i'll look into but curious!

raunchz
7th March 2009, 19:56
just imagine the rear cogs on the montain bike. The bigger the cog, the quicker you can accelerate whereas you can't go as fast without your legs going super fast!

Whereas on the smaller cogs you take longer to accelerate but can go faster.

the above relates to the final drive of the gearbox, so the vtr, vts have the same ratio's but different final drives - or rear cogs on the bike, so one can accelerate quicker whereas the other can go faster.

Your allowed upto 230bhp these days in Super 1600..

Some Super 1600's Saxo's that are now privatley owned are pushing around 228bhp..

They will do 0-60 (depending on gearing) in low - mid 4's..

think mines doing it in high 6s its been superchipped, lad cams, lad cylinderheadwork.4 into 1 man, full decat exhaust and many more mods that fill a couple of sides of a4. on the m6 near warrington coming back to the midlands with my newly bought vts, i was sat with an evo 6 up to 120 mph was just funny to see his face then i decided to behave.

the cars were rolling i shit you not mate on the m6 the evo got 2 car lengths at 120mph, it was my fault really for egging him on he was on a nice leasurely drive id just bought it and i thought lets see, i was very impressed.

take it this has had the full works ive got recipts for everything been done ill get a tech spec when i can be arsed.

i was just looking for a run around saving for an evo 7 myself, but a few people i know had vtrs vtss etc....so id set my heart on a standard vts then this came up i made the right choice. few things i think im going to do is sell off the cituning bonnet, rear spoiler and rear morettes and put standard items back on. so dunno if anyone wants to swap and cash my way. have the recipts for all of them bits.
