some of you may have seen my other thread re: exhaust, suspension, engine mounts, quickshift etc...

well the very ultimate aim for my PAXO hybrid is going to be TB's now having done a fair bit of research i have found lots of positives and lots of negatives.

i understand how TB's work, what i dont understand is how i get my Saxo VTS engine loom, with my VTR interior loom to work with my Pug 106 GTi engine and an after market ECU which will be required to manage it all? any help would be great!

the other thing is, if i am going to have to invest heavily into a ECU to run the TB's and have it mapped, i take i should also get the cams (potentially Kent Cams) done so when having the headache of setting up the ECU correctly i wont have to do it again?

i live on the Isle of Man where there are no rolling roads, the cost for the ferry return is about £180 (low peak) and will go to the liverpool area, then hotels etc while waiting for it to be setup correctly is going to cost a small fortune, any way of getting an ECU with base map and using my own software and laptop to tweak it?

Im pretty sure that the saxo vts loom needs modifing to work with the gti engine for starters. The interior loom wont realy be a problem as long as the loom is for the same year as the vtr i.e single plug or 3 plug ecu.

Thats all i can answer tbh hope that helps in some way

Hi,

yeah your right,

1) had to cut the 3 pin connector for the crank position sensor off and wire the 2 pin connector from the 106 loom.

2) had to cut the map sensor connector off and wire the three wires into the 106 map sensor.

i think thats all the cutting i had to do.

my main point really is that if i were to get an ECU that was for the 106 GTi & 106 GTi wiring loom, would the pin outs on the ECU be the same in the respect that i can use my current VTS loom to connect it all up?

thanks!
