For some reason i just cant get my coil pack to spark. Ive tried :
New Unlocked ECU
New Starter Motor
New Coil Pack
New Crank Posistion Sensor
Its trying to turn over, and it is fueling. The annoying thing is, it was running perfectly fine, then i put the lower engine mount on correctly and it just wont work now. I duno what to try.
It's costing a fortune now, and the car hsa to be out of the garage by the end of this week. :(
Please any ideas?

I'd say the ecu, did you remove all of your old immobiliser stuff?

I took the transponder out when i put the ECU in. I have two ECU's. So i cant see how it can be that.

dude i reckon its the immobilizer mate or something messed up with ecu or if not try checking the wires around the ignition barrel?

have you cheacked the earthes??

Ive checked the earth's that i can see. If someone knows exactly where they are and could let me know that would be brill. I didnt do the loom.
It cant be the immobiliser cos the light would be on. Plus i have an unlocked ECU.

Which of the igntion wires are there to tell it to spark?

just have a general check mate. Just have a look for any obvious loose connections or burnt wires. Also check the fuses and earthes. There is a common earth that comes loose which is on the top of the gearbox.

check for supply voltage to the coil + check fuses / ignition relay

Ive checked the gearbox earths and fuses. I really have tried everything obvious :(

Changed the ignition relay. Checked the fuses. I havent got a multi meter to check power.

i had this problem and found a split wire on the injectors cut the section out and fitted an inline connector and all was good

Im guessing i have to take off the throttle body? How come this stops a spark mate?

Oh right. Do you remember the colour of the wire? Or is it really obvious?

Do you think its the wire cut on the fuel relay under the ECU? Funny it started before though.

that wire is meant to be cut mate.
have you got the earth near the fuse box connected? under inertia switch?

you sure you removed the immobiliser and not the alarm or key fob receiver?

If you leave the transponder box in with an unlocked ecu does it lock it again? Cos the kid i bought it off said you can leave it in :S. But anyway the immobiloser light doesnt come on.

yes, it will lock it.

Tonight, i checked the power supply to the crank sensor and there is defo summat there. But there still isnt one to the coil pack.

Right, if I was you I'd get into the haynes, as see where a coil pack power is taken from and trace the wire there.Just kelp tracing it back until you get to the point where there is power, then you should find the problem.

I suppose that would be a good idea. :)

mate if the immobiliser box is left in it will lock the ecu again.thats y it started first time coz it has to reset the ecu.this happened on my old vts and it took us ages to find the problem.have u got another unlocked ecu?

worth unplugging the black immobiliser box ? I thought it would have worked, as you had the immobiliser chip in the key, the ECU, and the black box. Maybe when you unlocked the ECU, and fitted it the black box loxked it ?
I'm begining to get stumped with this one....

Liam,
I'm Andy, and I live in Southampton. I make the Predator PnP Mappable ECU.
Sounds like your car is a 1-plug. If you want me to come up and have a look, I can bring a Predator and Laptop.
I can instantly tell you if your ECU is getting power, whether there are the correct coolant, air temp, TPS, and VR signals coming in. Also I have some diagnostic test modes so we can sit there with the coil pack removed just making it spark without *anything* else happening, also can fire the fuel too.
Obviously it will ultimately start and run your engine!
I'm not £free, but if you want some help PM me and we may be able to arrange something
Kind regards
Andy

if you have supply @ the crank sensor try bridging the 2 terminals together with a coil lead placed close to the engine and see if you get a spark. ( like if you was checking a spark plug )
