I always thought it was a matter of makeing holes in the engine and everything but have heard it bolts on considering you have the manifolds etcc... but like jorge says without the management it would be worth it.

Standalone management bout 1 grand turbo good 1 £900 drive shafts the gearboxes that will break boost gauge oil cooler tyres boost controler bigger breakes actualy more than 3 grand

Standalone management
how much will that be? I spose I'd need a thicker head gasket too, gass flowed head, port and pollish etc?

what on earth are you talking about?

Standalone management, atleast £600.
Then you will need uprated internals, turbo, manifold, intercooler etc. A lot of work. £3k is probally the minimum it would cost.
Its not just a bolt on job.

Its not just a matter of putting the turbo on youve got to think of breaks etc... you could just put the turbo on but you may have coolent isues along with alot more.

All depends if your doin the work yourself or not tbh.

I thought i could do it on the cheep! hardly need bigger brakes nd stuff like that...maybe drives but it'l all start getting expensive. so with a standalone ecu, manifold, intercooler, turbo and a little bit of head work its not possible?

its possible yea but youll get problems in the near future, youll need biger brakes, 306 gti6 maybe?

Sorry, the site is obviously wrong, go ahead and 'bolt' it on and see how much change from £3k you get?

depends how far you want to go i have about 20k in mine
its not just a case of making a manifold with a turbo in you need to take oil and a good water supply also a good sump return
a decent intercooler and pipe work
you go down the 5th and 6th injector route but this is very out dated now to do this you would need an mf2 and a sig con but you would be best off going standalone with 4 larger injectors far more reliable and precise
its not cheap to do it right and you will find lots of costs you dont even amagin
do some proper research first dont just jump in with the blinkers on
and ask away

also you could do with going lower compression unless you are running a relativly low boost and standalone mapped properly

I was told to use a thicker head gasket wich would lower the compression anyway and I think low boost would suit me as it is an every day car.
thankyou for your help everyone

alot of people use 2 head gaskets or a decompression plate its not the best way but its alot cheaper than doing the low comp pistions
but you get what you pay for
