I havent had mine long but have had cars bigger than a 1.6 but i have noticed something on the Vts i havent on any of my previous cars.
In the first 3 gears if you put your foot down, as soon as it hits 3.5k revs it all of a sudden speeds up. Like it just thinks "stuff it lets get more power all of a sudden" lol
I had a Vectra Sri 2.0ltr and it never done this on that?
Is it the same with all of them or would the previous owner have done anything to make it do this?
Its a R reg if that makes and difference?

It could of been cammed mate but tbh vts's sing in the high revs so it would surprise me if it was standard

On the 16v the power is higher up in the rev range compared the 8v saxo which is lower down.
If the power is really powerful maybe you've got some different cam shafts in there :p

How would i find out?
It just seemed weird, differnet altogether but also on my Corsa Sport i had (once upon a time) it didnt do that. That was a 1.6 16v

Best way to see if it's cammed is to get it onto a rollingroad.
Should cost you about £35>50
ps.
Corsa's suck.

Lolz. or you could take the cam covers off and see if theres any sign of an aftermarket cams (look for stamped symbol or numbers/letters)

Sounds normal to me mate. It means you get good aceleration at high speeds, even above about 90mph (where permitted, of course!)

thats the vts for you, though could have a mild cam or something, how does it idle because cammed engines have a tendancy to idle a touch rough

When you say idle what you mean?

Turn the engine on lol, just turn the engine on and leave it (no gas or clutch), watch the rev counter or listen to the engine for rough noise rarther than a smooth settled sound. Im not a vts owner but driven one quite often and i think paul my be right, cud well be cammed

Sound perfectly normal to me thats just the way the 16v engines produce power. I very much doubt its cammed.

Yeah if im just sitting there it sounds as if its going to stall all the time, sometimes it does. Not often but it does seem to.
Which would suggest?

That isn't really much to go by on a VTS as it is almost normal for them to run a little lumpy on the idle. It probably hasn't been cammed.
