Do vtr's have adjustable tappets? i thought it was my exhaust gasket but i have changed that twice and its still tapping any ideas ???????

oh and to do it properly you need feeler gauges

how much is it to get them dun because mine taps and it dos my head in lol so if you cud give me a ruff estimate wud be great thanks

depends what model your VTR is aint it, whether theyre hydraulic or not iirc?

All 8v's sound like sewing machines!
You can quieten them for a while by setting tappets but for god sake make sure the engine is stone cold!

Pretty sure only blacktops have adjustable tappets.

O soz mate. Tappets are a part of the rocker arm that is in contract with the Inlet and Exhaust valves. They are adjusted with feeler gauges, easy job. Make sure engine is cold.

All 8V's have adjustable tappets... only the valvers have hydraulic tappets. There's a good guide for adjusting them in the Haynes manual but in my experience, it's pretty hard to get them spot on. Best taking it to a Cit/ Pug specialist imo... shouldn't cost you more than £30.
