Have done a few searches on here to no avail.

Has anyone got any piccys of where I need to upgrade the earthing wires in the car?

Also if anyone is able to find out the approx guage of the standard saxo wiring that would be amazing!!!

Many Thanks

Alternator to Battery
Battery to Chassis
Chassis to Engine

pretty much self explanatory surely you dont need picutres of a wire.

Use 4 awg or 0 depending on what equipment you are running.

Im part way through doing the big three myself just an addition to Liams posts.

The Alternators on Sax's only ever put out 90 amps (and thats if you fit a Xsara one) so theres no need for 0 gauge you can use 4 gauge and save yourself some money :), Ive done just that wire and I almost always get 14.4 volts now.

Also if you use 4 gauge it can be bent down the bottom of the rad keeping it nice and tidy, just remember to fuse it as if you scrape the front end the alt will earth out on the bodywork which could be nasty!

Good guide Liam, I was looking for something like this a while ago

unless you have a big install and / or into your ICE you proberally wouldnt even hear of tb3 ... those that upgrade theirs will have something serious more than likely... like Liam im using 0 gauge, but then again we are both proberally drawing more power than a house lol, so a smoother power supply is needed.

if your going for 4 may aswell go for 0 lol... its all about the flow :y:

so a bigger cable from the alternater to the battery and 2 decent earths on thicker cable give the battery more power to run more thank 1 amp

even tho 4 gauge is fine with 80a you have to think of how hot the cable gets being in the engine bay and the lengh of the 4 gauge both thos factors give voltage loss i did tb3 with 4gauge 1st time and i saw a gain from changing from the 4 to the 0 gauge cant remember what the gain was but it is definitely worth using 0 gauge you might as well get all you can out of the charging system befor upgrading batterys. as the alt is the most inportent factor in any install as you no

you will be able to bend 0 gauge down the back of the engine only reson i havnt is because i wanted to make the wire as short as possible

Ill be doing this soon stupid question but the above is for the earth? so earth side of the alt to the neg of battery?

Also is their one more cable from the pos of alt to + of battery, then + of battery to boot and to second battery +

And finally - of second battery to chassis? If so when earthing the second battery would the rear seat hinge bolt be a good sorce as long as its sanded to bare metal?

Cheers
