if you paint standard parts, like smoking lights or refurbing wheels does that count as a modification in the eyes of the insurance peeps? there just standard parts after all but a different colour lol.

Wouldn't of thought so mate, check your policy and how its worded, mine says any mods must be declared if they improve performance speed or acceleration so i wouldnt mention anything, but worst comes to worst mention it

yeah my policy classes a modification as "something that enhances the performance of the car"

Phone them up and check mate. They may not charge you any extra for it anyway but may refuse to pay out if you have an accident and haven't declared them.

cosmetics - includes, body kits, spoilers, head / tail lights, alloys *after market*
performance - well anything, brakes, roll cage, harnsess, exhaust, induction, suspension - shocks / coilys / springs...

colour you can do waht ever you like, but if you change the majourity of the colour you have to declair it on the registration... if its a full paintjob, some kind of pearl, flip, fancy doodle lol then you can insure it, but aslong as its registered its ok.

On my policy with Direct line, you have to tell them but it costs nothing... and your parts will be replaced like for like...
