Just wondering with 708/PH3's whats the most you can advance/retard the timing on the inlet and exhaust cam with pocketed hi comp pistons?.

why not just set them to the correct settings? you can do that with standard cams.

For use with TBs and high comps.

if you have high comps and bodies why use a mild cam such as the 708?

Well i have the PH3, i know its not a cam that necessitates bodies but i was wondering how far i could go with them to get a figure with the PH3 and then with a wild cam.
I know it would only get around 165-175 with that spec but id like to do the mods in stages and get figures so i can see whats doing what in terms of power.

so then you spend £300 each year on mapping?
Why not do it in one go, + 1 map. FAR more economical. JPsaxos made just under 170iirc with 708s and HC, so id not expect 175 tbh.

that still doesnt give a reason why you dont want to set the cams at the correct settings, you can time them in correctly on standard pistons.

Well the mapping ill be doing, not the best but its something ive wanted to learn for ages - im getting there, but the RR i will have to pay for so still not cheap but cheaper. Its good fun atleast.
Thats not a bad figure, Nij's made 162 with PH3's with an ecu mapped for a diff car and standard internals. Only a few more from hi comps isn't that cracking. Do you rekon with bigger valves there'd be much more gain?

Im assuming from your post the PH3's can't be advanced anymore than their suggested setup as there too mild? So the only way id get more bhp from adjusting the timing would be with a cam thats been retarded to suit the oem pistons?

they can be advanced more, nut why would you want to do that as that isnt there designed setting?
hicomp pistons with bigger valve cutouts allow you to run cams with more lift, so if your fitting them and bodies there is no reason why you would want to use PH3s???
