I was wondering what mileage there is in doing an individual throttle bodies conversion...I know its a big job and NOT cheap,

VTS on throttle bodies?

isnt that for you to decide?

depends what you want, they sound great and the cars much better to drive, and faster

not charged faster but still alot faster than std.

how much would it cost for the throttle body conversion for a black top vtr?

the acutally throttle bodies wouldn't break the bank, but i think its the fueling system that u have to set up, that will cost! Dont quote me on that...

look in the links section! then go to GMCs web site via the link...

if your serious bout this conversion then look into it properly....

"Inlet Manifold, 4 Jenvey throttle bodies, linkage to join the throttle bodies, throttle linkage to connect to your cable system, support bracket for this linkage, 4 180 degree trumpets, air box and Green works copy air filter, alternatively the superior deluxe Procomp unit at extra cost.

Price £1321"

its in the new products part of there site, read on tho.....

personally im going to look at saving £2k then make a fone call..... VTR on throttle bodys! running wiv a close ratio 106rallye gearbox & VTR 5th gear.... she will be awsome! smileys/smiley16.gif

For everyone who is interested in a Throttle body conversion, the cost of the kit for a VTS from demon tweeks will set u back £2250 inc VAT. If uve already had ur cams upgraded, ull have to spend a further £352.50 for the new injectors....

This kit would have a basic start map installed and you would have to have the car mapped before useing properly.

time to start saving me thinks.. smileys/smiley4.gif

I have a silver fully colour coded VTS. I have had stage one headwork done, with fast road cams added. Running on jenvey throttle bodies and a DTA S40 ECU, which was required to perform the throttle body conversion. After the throttle body conversion i did need bigger injectors, which cost £260 and works a treat. So all in all, for my jenvey throttle bodies and custom air filter, my DTA S40 ECU, all set up on a rolling road and labour cost me £2900. Which imo is not bad at all, and mu car is running at 171bhp :) as a result.

Sorry that previous post was a lie.

For my Jenvey throttle bodies, my DTA S40 ECU, custom air filter, bigger injectors, all set up on rolling road. New head gasket, new plugs, new oil filter, head skim, oil change, new oil stem seals, new thermostat, and LABOUR! cost me £2900. Big thanks to Jonathan at JDM Dyno for that :)

Can u run throttle bodies from a bike of standard engine management?

cheers

no, will still need an after market ecu, think it can be done with piggyback type things i think, (sure some one will confirm of deny) but as the predator ecu is cheap compared to others, sub £500 i think and free mapping for life i think.

but yes the bike bodies can work, some people get results similar to purpose made jenveys etc too

some will say you can... but i would run bodies on standard ecu remapped.. as the ecu was never design to do that... that why many will not do it!

it free mapping if you go back to andy for extra work... i wouldnt just keep changing the map for no reason.... if you go back to him have a change to the engine spec and he does the work he will map it again for free. it a very good business.. as very reasonable.

Standard ecu was never designed to run wilder cams....yet with a map it does

Im not wanting to argue and it certainly doesnt need to be discussed again but the standard ecu can be made to run throttle bodies.

It all depends on the setup of the standard ECU

I have a 172, running on itb's and mine is the only one to be running on standard ECU and all sensors.

With mine, the ECU is powerfull enough to do it, its just only a few people know how to get the best out of the ECU, hence why its never been done.

Mine is 192bhp on RS Tunings RR in Leeds, as Paul mapped it for me, and for an example it has dropped my 0-60 time by 1 seconds, and the 0-100 by around 3 secs, so does make good difference.

Speak to someone like Wayne, as he knows the Saxo ECU's well, and see if the ECU can work with them.

It may take a bit of fabrication, as mine has, but its well worth it, my conversion wasnt even into 4 figures £ wise.

I can possibly get the T/B kit for a saxo for under 2k. With that you get everything to self instal the kit and you get 1 hour free mapping on a RR in wiltshire....

You get

T/Bs and manifold
Fuel rail
ECU and fly loom
throttle linkages

You can choose piggy back or full install on the ECU

We also fit and set up this kit here in Essex

Cheers Mac

Some of you have obviously paid well over the odds with your injectors. Many people are still using standard injectors with TB's which is of course close to their limits.

A very simple solution is to use the clio 172/182 pico injectors with the code IWP042 these are the exact same casing size as the Saxo/106gti Pico ones so will be a straight fit and are of course setup for 170/180 bhp which unless you have an absolutely mental N/A setup you'll never exceed the limitations of the Clio injectors.

You can pick up a set for under £50 and for good measure send them to somewhere like injectortune to be serviced which will cost about £50 for all 4 (£100 all in)

For reference standard 1*2 injectors run out around the 210 bhp mark.

Nice one Russ, noone will realistically ever exceed that from a N/A J4/JP4 engine unless they really are spending stupid money

Yeah matey, im looking at cams next, and a bit of head work as my inlet ports are shocking, and il still be sticking with stanard injectors :)

Cheers for tips,

Heard of a Emerald K6 ECU for £595 + VAT + shipping from pug1off

Anyone know of cheaper place for Emerald K6 ECU and is this a good option to run with throttle bodies + cams??

cheers :y:

I understand the idea of saving money --but is it really a good idea to skimp on injectors --when you are spending good money to have it mapped
,bad enough using used tps +water temp + air temp --these things do go out of spec over time ,and the accurracy + consisitancy of the map will depend on the signals the ecu recieves .
to then use unknown injectors in not the best idea,
yes you can have them cleaned ,but you still have no warranty on life of units
