Hi, me and my boyfriend have just invested in our third saxo project and this one has a siezed engine.

I believe the engine siezed as the previous owner was driving it when it packe in and i cheked for oil and that was ok but there was no water in the radiator so i believe thats the problem:n:.

Instead of repairing this, we are going to switch engines with a 30,000 miler out of one of the others as it needs vic anyway and won't be going anywhere anytime soon but the new one is tested for a good 6 months so we are after a speedy solution.

so....

We were just wondering if the ecu out of the x reg vtr (3 plug), will run the engine from the v reg (silvertop single plug) as i believe they are both rollers but we would transferr the inlet manifold as that seems different. (so it would be single plug silvertop run by a greytop inlet manifold and ecu).

will hopefully be doing this next weekend so speedy answers please :A:

will get pictures up of the cars when we make progress.

p.s. sorry for the essay :p

Claire

you would need the same loom and ecu for the type of engine. i believe the parts you want to swap over on the engine wont fit due to different port spacings

are you positive?
as they are both rollers

lol, ok cheers.
do you think the inlet manifold from early mk2 will wire up to the late mk2 wiring loom anyway?

don't think it matters tbh if we are just swapping the engine yet keeping the standard ecu and wiring loom etc...

thanks for the help people, lol

got the engine swapped and, for ayone interrested, here's what we have had to do so far to fit the later loom to the earlier engine:

.swap the rear coolant hose
.swap the alternator
.swap water temperature sensor
.swap a sensor on the gearbox

with all this done so far it seems ok, tomorrow i'm going to put the later inlet manifold on the engine and see if it will start

it's taken us two days so far to take both engines out, swap wiring looms and put one of the engines back in working for about 4hrs a day.

had another couple of hours today, sparco tom was right and the inlet manifold port spacings were different but i swapped the throttle position sensors over and the air flow meter (i think, black bosch thing), and everything plugged in ok exept i was left with 2 connectors on the throttle body but nothing on the wiring loom to connet to them so i have left them blank.

cant think of any other problems i had today but after doing all of this it turned over so should have it running soon.
