wierd whining noise????

my car has been making funny whining noises when the car is ticking over even if i rev the engine a slight touch it gets louder its coming from the bottom of the engine drivers side by the water pump/crank pulley area when im driving this noise takes over the sound of the engine its starting to p*ss me off.......... a really loud whining noise anybody had this problem and solved it???

Whining or squeeling? Probs one of your pulleys.

might be your alternator belt or one of the pulleys check the tension of your belt, spray a silicon spay or wd 40 on the belt if it stops making the noise then its your belt needs tighten or replacing if it still makes a noise after you have sprayed it then its could be one of your pulleys. I had my crank pulley do this, at idle if you put electrical things on like lights, heater, rear windscreen heater etc. it makes it worse, put all of these on and see if it gets worse. if so probably your crank pulley needs replacing. If not could be your water pump.

i had this and it ended up being the clutch relase bearing

Belt could be catching the timing belt casing, does it on my car too.

i have a whine, but mine is a bearing in the alternator so yet anoher possability to include in the list above!

guess its time for me to change a few parts gunna have a new waterpump timingbelt an tensioner soon so hopefully its 1 of those making the noise.....
