engine conversion

Hi all am looking for some advice av got a saxo vtr and after 2 years am a bit boared so pulled it off road and stripped it and now am making a monster!!!! but am curious about the engine a heard you can squeeze any pug or cir engine in the vtr up to a 2 litre without 2 much hassle is this right?? av uprated the brakes, suspension, my mate is seem welding it so it will be strong enough to hold its own but can it be done a dont really wanna spend a rake of cash and not have the power to back it up and a think aroud 5k for a turbo kit is a bit much cheers everyone
