I have a mk2 VTR 98bhp. Wanting more power and have done all the breather mods, janspeed mani, supersprint race cat-back, Raceland with green induction kit, P&P TB

So Im thinking should I cam my engine or get a VTS engine conversion?

VTS gives more scope long term.

hmm yeh, thats what I was thinking. Finding it hard to find a 3plug vts conversion kit with 50-70k.

I would cam it but with a better cam, Fast road cam or PH3 and a remap :y:

vts engine , and breath mods on that and you will be looking at more bhp for most likley almost the same cost as camming and remapping it.

With what he already has and a PH3 and remap, he may have more than a breathed on VTS.

Could get VTS conversion then save and cam that?

set yourself a figure you want from your car. then look at what you can acheive from the r lump then look at the gains from the s lump. to get to the s level with the r lump could cost more than doing a conversion to the s lump.

manc used the ph1 cam said it was shit.

get the ph2.

if you have the cash to get an engine and fit it, then vts engine.

Leebum in ne section has just got a pt40 says if does feel a fair bit quicker, pretty sure it has a slight longer duration and more lift then the ph1.

CBA to double check for you lol

vts lump gives you a much better base to work from, also you got more horses per £££ with a vts ;). just depends how handy you are

also got to think about insurance....

Will cost more if it goes down as a vts conversion.
more tax, uses more fuel.

Some things to think about.

surely with putting a lairy cam in a vtr is also going to make you consume more fuel. tax shouldnt change by that much if you were to declair it as a 16v. if i were you i'd save the pennies for a vts. remember all your vtr mods can be sold and put towards the vts engine.

manc said ph1 was no different really.
Sure the pt40 is very similar and Leeum says he's noticed a fair bit of difference with his, and better mpg.
ph2 is the same price, can run it without a remap aswel.

nope.
ph1 is hardly larey either.

for some reason and i dont know why.
Cammed VTR's seem to get better mpg than standard VTR's.

Same with vts' with ph3s and a remap get better mpg then standard :panic:

Its something to do with the duration and the fuel burning more efficently, someone posted it up last year.
Obviously on full chat you will more then likely get less mpg, but for normal driving everyone i know of gets better mpg over standard.

VTR tax on a 98bhp £125 a year
VTS is £225 iirc

Well the way I think about it is

VTS conversion will cost around 400 for the engine and williamsvts on here £250 for the conversion. So Your talking £650-750 for around 130bhp with mods

PH3 conversion cam is around £150 with the group buy? then fitting are remap. Going to be around £850-1000 for around 125bhp?

only reason I was thinking about the PH1 is because you dont need a remap. What power would I expect froma PH2?

funny that because you carnt fit ph2's to saxos.....

the ph2 is for the earlier 106 engine.it has a different cam bearing size to the later silver top type engines.
