could u get a vts to 172 bhp at the wheels with cams and alot of work to the engine inside and with out one of the big 3 tbs ,turbo, or supercharging and is there any way to prove some one is fake for not having 172bhp
is there a nice person on here that would take me for a drive in a saxo running at 180bhp ?
thx guys :)

To get 172bhp, you will need TBs.
And why such a precise figure?

I think you'll be pushed to get 172bhp at the wheels with TBs.
I think that it's only possible on a NA spec with nitrous

No, the saxo S1600 has 220bhp N/A without nitrous, and a few other have over 200bhp N/A and dont have nitrous either.
Your mate is talking through his arse TBH
he thinks he has 172bhp, with what? cams and breathing mods? no chance mate.

With £10,000 you could get a lot more than 180bhp. I think your mate at work is lying about how much he has spent on is engine personally.

IMO at the fly figures are bullshit, people either need to start using at the wheels figures or stfu.

Firstly:-
Only on the longman 210ish bhp TU's will you get around 172 @ the wheels, and your mates bank account will 100% know if he has 210bhp under the bonnet!!
Secondly:-
You would never get anywhere near 210bh without tb's / turbo / supercharger on a TU engine.

Your 16 stfu, i think raunchz knows more than you.
And the s1600 had 209bhp at 8500rpm not classified at the wheels or fly.. not forgetting to achieve that power the engine was rebuilt after every race and would probably blow up if you were using it for anything else apart from track days..

You have to distinguish between @the wheels and @the fly figures.
Just looed at the formula of going between fly and wheels figures and the 200+bhp @fly cars will have around 170bhp@ the wheels.

I wouldn't say I know a lot - but I just know to search and read things before starting the normal engine conversion thread etc.
Everyone has to learn, but if you use your common sense you can learn quicker - pretty much everything you need to know is on here if you search and look through past threads!

the peugeot 106 maxi got higher figures still from the 16v tu... (those figures are flywheel ones).
Regarding the OP the way to prove power is using an engine dyno. If it was a big budget build then it would usually have been run on one. Race spec engines are not usually built in the car.
I'd bet that if the 172bhp is a geniune claim - then its more likely to be a fly figure (estimated) rather than a wheels figure
