Basically Im after an open cone filter purely for the noise. However to try to minimize heatsoak, I was thinking of mounting it far away from the manifold, and towards the front of the car. What could I use to do this? And where could I get it from? I think I need some form of metal tubing which is the right size, are there any particular websites that sell all this stuff? Or silicone hose? Thanks, Sam.

the further you move the filter away from the throttle, the more the noise will be reduced.
on a 1.1 id not worry about any heat soak, i think the minging roar of the open filter is bad enough. id worry about that
but if thats what your after, do it mate.

I wouldn't bother buying expensive alloy/silicone ducting and mounting it at the front, I have tried this on my 1.1 and it absolutely killed the throttle response and cut down the noise which defeats the object of even having an open induction kit.
I would just fix it directly to the tb and get a heatshield and run some ducting to it from the front of the car to get cool air to the filter. This should actually give better results as the engine still has a good unrestricted air path which an induction kit is supposed to give :y:
