pop flames?

sorry if i sound like a proper noob when i ask this but i just dont know how it works...

how do you get little flames to pop out your exhaust when you change gear etc?

i no it can be achieved by using a rev limiter on big power turbo cars but how do you do it on a saxo, if you can do it on a saxo?

You will need prefairably, a 4-2-1 manifold, Decat, and a silencer-less centre section and a good backbox.

put a high pressure fpr on and overfuel it, should get some flames out for you.

take it into the red, DONT hit the limiter quick gear change and it should pop and spit...mine does anway...got a jetex stainless exhaust and decatted. you dont need to change the manifold as mine did it before on the standard.

get a straight through system, get a rev limiter, set to hard cut at 3000rpm and bounce it off the limiter in the carpark at night. 1 foot flames then lol I might have done this once when I was young and stupid :D

Not sure you will get flames visible on a standard camshaft but if you uprate that so its got a long duration you will get valve overlap and when overrunning, unburnt fuel will get into the exhaust system, igniting and giving you a good flame.

i have a centre silencer on mine and it still pops like a bitch. give it a tap at about 7500 on mine and you et an almighty bang its cool as fuck!!! (i sound like a right scally but it is cool)

i have no idea if there is a flame, to be honest i couldn't care, im more concentrating on the road and approaching bends, not some kids at the side of the road that will point in amazement

Flames are cool within reason.
lairy cams create flames that are cool,
my ignition cutoff for my sequential gearbox will create cool flames every time I change gear
bodging engines with power boost valves to overfuel or flamer kits etc are for nobbers. :D

Not all engines will do it, you can have 2 with the same mods, 1 might pop and flame, the other might not.

I've got a Pugsport, renowned for popping, mine wont unless its very, very hot.

Thats Rod Birley's car. Its rather a sweet machine with carbon panels and other goodies. Its not massively powerful but it handles as well as it accelerates so he usually wins everything he enters.

Watch him in the dunlop motorsport news series. Next race is Brands hatch in a week or so. I'll probably be down there as I know a few drivers. Roadtrip???
